About this listen

From USA Today and Wall Street Journal best-selling author L A Cotton comes a brand-new angsty and gritty romance duet.

Harleigh Wren Maguire is broken.

At least, that’s what it feels like, a puzzle whose pieces no longer fit right.

She knows one thing, though: Never trust your heart.

It won’t lead you right, it’ll trick you. Betray you. And in the end, it’ll kill you.

Phoenix Wilder is angry.

At least, that’s what it feels like, eating him up inside.

He knows one thing, though: Never trust your heart.

It won’t fix things, it’ll break them. Taint them. And in the end, it’ll destroy them.

Once upon a time, Harleigh and Nix were everything to each other. They shared their secrets, their hopes and dreams.

But things are different now.

They’re different.

And maybe everything they remember was nothing but a lie.

These Dirty Lies is the first book in Nix and Harleigh's duet. Due to mature content that some listeners may find distressing, this book is recommended for listeners 17+.

Harleigh & Phoenix

Steamy high school romance that had a great backstory. Grew up together as best friends until Harleigh is forced to move and attend a rival school. Narrators were great and took me back to high school.

A Darling Hill Duet!

These Dirty Lies (Darling Hill Duet #1) is the latest addictive story written by one of my favourite ya/na authors. Harleigh Wren Maguire and Phoenix Wilder's angsty romance duet is darkish, forbidden and crammed with secrets. Looking forward to listening the second half of this fabulous duet.

Violet Strong, Logan Anare dual narration brings Harleigh and Phoenix's romance to friution. Violet's tone is young enough to fit Harleigh's character and she envelops into the character. Logan also fit the characters role of Phoenix.

Entertaining listen.

A dirty read!

Things are different now...
They’re different...
And maybe everything they remember was nothing but a lie...

An addicting read. From the start, I knew I would not and could not stop reading until it was over. All pretense of being a responsible adult was dropped and I just indulged myself by reading this book.

The writing and story was truly magnificent. Brilliantly written.

Perfect for readers of contemporary romances.

Narration was truly amazing and worth it. So very worth it so give this book a try.

Phoenix and Harleigh!

Harleigh and Phoenix are childhood friends. They spent a lot of time together in the Row until her mother passes away. Harleigh moves to the other side of town with the father she never knew. This changes everything for Harleigh--her life, her friendship with Nix, and her experiences living with a family she doesn't know. These two and their Row friends have experienced many situations that are difficult to navigate. Harleigh's saving grace in her new world is her half sister Celeste. This story is full of angst and emotion. They're teenagers living with adult experiences simply because they come from the Row. They try to do the right thing, but sometimes circumstances bring nothing but failure. There is also an air of mystery that I can't quite figure out. Since this is a duet, I'm hoping that the mystery is resolved and Harleigh and Phoenix find some happiness. The narrators, Violet Strong and Logan Anare, brought the characters and story to life. They elicited the emotions of the characters gave them human dimension.

I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook at my request and voluntarily left this review.

Intense, emotional and suspenseful

I have been waiting for These Dirty Lies with bated breath ever since first meeting Nix and his Birdie in These Dark Hearts.

This story took me on such a crazy emotional rollercoaster. It was so easy to fall for Nix and Harleigh.

These characters are so raw and broken. They both have gone through so much hardship it's absolutely heartbreaking and narrators Violet Strong and Logan Anare managed to perfectly capture their voice. It made me want to scoop them up, and wrap them up in bubble wrap together, to mend their shattered hearts and protect them from the cruelness of the world.

I can't wait for the second part of this duet!

So enjoyed this listen!

Having picked this up when it first released i was so glad when i found out about the audiobook! I wanted to experience this story again in this new way. I started listening as soon as i could and got back into the Darling Hill world! I so enjoyed this audiobook!

I'm new to Violet Strong, but i've listened to Logan Anare before. I was happy to listen to these two and their narration! I really liked the way they both grabbed my attention quickly and took me right back into Darling Hill! From the realness to the emotions, I thoroughly enjoyed what both Violet and Logan brought to the story as Harleigh and Phoenix! I can't wait to listen to these two narrators again in the future!

Once again, Harleigh and Phoenix pulled me in! I was so glad to get to experience this first book in their story in this new way. From the way these two had me feeling many things to seeing how it'd all play out for them, i so enjoyed this listen!

With These Dirty Lies, Ms.Cotton has created such a good journey that had me feeling so many things! I can't wait to listen to the second audiobook in this duet, These Dead Promises!
