Sheldon Hickory has shifted from a human to an alien intellect to something in between.

The infected teen, with the power to heal the sick and injured, is now given a pivotal role in the resistance against the powerful alien movement. But as a second wave of the extra-terrestrial forces cripples the coast and a bounty is put on him, Sheldon is forced into hiding.

On the brink of a nuclear end-of-world counter strike, Sheldon and a small group of survivors frantically seek shelter. And, somehow, in the midst of war, Sheldon can’t help but find himself falling in love again–and the timing is terrible.

For, in the tides of the apocalypse, he discovers a new utopian vision orchestrated by the alien movement and is forced to make deadly and heartbreaking decisions for the safety of his desperate team.

Will Sheldon’s sacrifices bring him closer to a better future, or will they be in vain, leaving him with a shattered heart in a world forever changed?

I was entertained by book three as much as the other books in the series. I enjoyed the transformative changes that Sheldon has gone through so far. I liked the new twists. I felt that some of the more mature themes alluded to in the story increased the age appropriateness for a reader. I thought Charles Morton's narration was fine, but there were times when his voice lacked expressiveness. I was given a copy of the audiobook. I volunteered, without financial gain, to post this review which expressed my honest opinions regarding this story.
