About this listen

Yasmin Angoe’s They Come at Knight is the heart-pounding second installment in the Nena Knight series about an intrepid female assassin who will stop at nothing to protect her family.

For elite assassin Nena Knight, eliminating dangerous players on the world stage is part of the job. The Tribe, a powerful business syndicate in Africa, ensures that she has those opportunities. But for Nena, the Tribe is more than just her employer; it’s an organization that supports the African people—until it turns on itself.

As Nena embarks on a new mission, a violent siege by a paramilitary group throws the Tribe into chaos, and mysterious acts of violence plague the Tribe’s territories. As the attacks escalate, Nena suspects a different kind of enemy at play: someone on the inside, determined to undermine the Tribe’s leaders.

As this new threat closes in on her own family, Nena enlists a team to root out the danger. But as she gets closer to the truth, she will have to risk everything to protect the future she holds dear—even if it means facing off with an enemy she never expected.

Critic reviews

“[Tamika] Katon-Donegal narrates with precision and care. This plays well, given the nature of the main character.… Katon-Donegal especially shines at the hints of sarcasm Nena tosses toward her witty pregnant sister. She masterfully employs different accents—British, African, and American. Even within those broad nationalities, she geographically localizes the dialects. There are humor, drama, and continuous thrills in this crime story.”AudioFile Magazine

“Action-adventure at its very best, author Yasmin Angoe's They Come At Knight…is magnificently narrated by the vocal performance of Tamika Katon-Donegal. A flawless performance from start to finish.”Midwest Book Review

“There’s nothing ho-hum about Nena Knight, the killer at the heart of Yasmin Angoe’s They Come at Knight…In one blistering action scene after another, we get to see how good Nena is at what she does.”The New York Times Book Review

I liked the first book a little better, but this was still good. I enjoyed the perspective on a unified Africa. The voices of the narrator were entertaining.

Enjoyable story

I had read the first book. So glad I listened to this one Audible. Probably one of the best performances I ve heard in a long time. I am glad one I'm on the edge of my seat, genuinely surprised at who betrayed the Knights and the ending was perfect 🥰. Can't wait for the third book to come out.

This was fire!!!!.

What a great story with lots of intrigue. I need to know what Whit wrote. Hopefully the next book will be just as good. I love the blend with Africa and the US. I now want to visit Ghana and go to the club.

I enjoy listening to the narration as I read the books. Tamika Katon-Donegal gives the best performance I’ve ever heard. Her characters all have very distinct and diverse accents and voices. Even if I were only listening the the narration and not reading along, it was abundantly discernible who was speaking. Her Elin accent was my favorite; not just for the accent, but also for her spot-on British vernacular.

I was impressed at her pacing; emphatic and quickened during the action sequences, and slow and steady during those tender, touching moments.

After reading and listening to the first Nena Knight book, I was very happy to see that Tamika (if I may be so familiar) had also narrated this second iteration. I’ve read other series and felt a letdown when they changed narrators. Hopefully she’ll also narrate the next book. It wouldn’t be the same without her.

Flawless Narration

I absolutely love the world of Nena Knight and the Tribe. This was a great follow-up to the first with heartfelt moments that made me cry. Yasmin's description of Africa made me feel like I was there. Loved it from beginning to end.

Another action packed story w heart

I loved this story and the narration. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that I wish it had more than one story teller. At least one for the women characters ands one for the men characters.

Almost excellent
