About this listen

Thief of Babes is a classic fantasy of a farm wife sworn to rescue her husband from the elves under the hill. Clarisse was left by Yves on their farm in New York's Hudson Valley during the Indian Wars. When he finally returns, he is a broken man, easily captured by the trickster elves. His wife makes a bargain with their queen to steal a human infant and replace them with a changeling for a night with her husband.

What did you love best about Thief of Babes?

Draffin does an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. His vocal performance makes them leap right out at you.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

For some, the story might seem a little slow to get going, but once the ride really starts it never stops. Draffin's portrayal of the elvish world is both fantastic and harrowing.

Have you listened to any of DW Draffin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

DW is a strong vocal performer with an incredible knack for picking character voices. This is the second of his books I have enjoyed.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Careful what you wish for...

Any additional comments?

If I am reading the concept title correctly, this strikes me as a great way to bring a screenplay or story pitch idea to life in a way you just can't get from the bare page. I know film producers who would love to chip away at their weekend screenplay stack by listening to them in the car!
