Back to Basic Zombies 101

Back to good old normal zombie mode. Nothing supernatural. No complicated back stories. Just survival from the dead world.

gotten better every book

this series started off a bit slow and a bit confusing. by this third book you appreciate the characters for who they are and their flaws you have your favorites and you hope for the best in a horrible world. hopefully the next book will be even better I've got high hopes.

All I can say is

DAMN!

BUT WAIT There's MORE TO SAY. Amazing writing in this particular genre. and like Black Summer do not get attached to anyone. I cant wait to listen/ dive into the fourth installment. Bravo. Very impactful and you "feel" the drama, raw emotions and shock of events as they unfold. Great fast build of new characters and love the unpredictable moments. ESPECIALLY regarding Chad and his brother. RIP to to those from the earlier books, but wow they went out accordingly. The realism felt authentic and no WD cliff hanger of being surrounded and falling to the undead only to find out they hid underneath a garbage bin. I am officially a fan.

Another Awesome Book In The Series

Story is excellent, characters have depth and diverse perspectives, plot progression has a great pace (not too much downtime between events… I’m looking to continuing and finishing the series!

Why kill off the interesting characters??

Trying to decide if I should even bother listening to the next book as all the characters I wanted to root for have gotten killed off. Zeke, Lou and even Mort’s friend. Why should Rudy, Andy or Amanda beat out any of the others???

On a positive note, Im a fan of a good zombie apocalypse and this definitely fit the bill. Having worked in Portland while actually living across the street from Nike WHQ in the town homes they described, I was hit my by the nostalgia of hearing the familiar names. Having visited the campus and going to all the buildings due to (now my ex) having worked there, I could picture it all. I had driven across the Burnside bridge plenty of times. The authenticity of the locations were a plus.

Two additional items of note are the fact that I wish their were some indication provided as to the cause of the outbreak. I wish the author had gotten creative with some plausible way for how it all began.

WEAK

Your first 2 books were great, but the last 2 featured people
making bad choices while holding on to a dead world. Zombies represent a constant threat that CHANGES YOUR CHARACTERS. If people stay the same, then there is no reason to have an apocalypse.

Generic Outing

Pretty generic entry. It is also heavily repetitive and boring. I just couldn’t get into the characters.
