About this listen

He told me he loved me, then abandoned me.

My sister was his first choice. Too bad for him, I refused to be his second.

Dante Leone was bad news with a gorgeous exterior and a dangerous mind. Emotionally unavailable and slightly unhinged, he was a heartbreak waiting to happen. Again.

I ran. He gave chase and my fate was sealed.

Roaming the world, I searched for a vital part of me. There'd be no new beginning until I found my answers. My taste of freedom was sweet, yet lonely. And oh, so fleeting.

I should have known he would catch up to me. After all, he thrived on the chase. I'd learned that the hard way.

But guess what?

I was no longer the woman he seduced all those years ago. I no longer believed the pretty lies that passed his lips nor the false promises in his deceitful eyes.

My name is Phoenix Romero, and I'd make the rules this time around.

Like my namesake, I had risen from the ashes and this time, I would be the one to make him burn.

Exceptional Story & Listen🎧 Gripping & Emotional!

Eva Winners blows me away with another amazing novel set in her equally amazing “Thorns of Omertà” series. This fourth book of the series is Dante Leone and Phoenix Romero’s story, an enemies-to-lovers mafia romance with twists and turns that keep you thinking and on your toes. The story grabbed my attention right from the start and held it captive the entire time. Wow, Eva Winners put these two through the wringer and made them work for their happily ever after, and I was rooting for them the entire time. The two were young lovers, but with so many things going against them, they never stood a chance. Dante broke Phoenix’s heart, and she avoided seeing him for years, but when the two were in the same place, it was unavoidable and Dante felt a connection to her like no other, but Phoenix only felt hate. But there is a thin line between love and hate and Dante was not giving up on her and it became like a cat-and-mouse game until he finally catches up to her. Phoenix was on her own mission to get back something that never should have been taken from her. I loved how everything played out in this book, the complexity of the characters and all the layers to the story, which has the perfect balance of drama, angst, mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments and steamy romance. The writing, plot and world building are fantastic, as are the character growth and development. It was great to see some familiar faces from earlier series, including Sasha and Branka. Eva Winners, thank you for another exceptional story and emotional rollercoaster ride.

🎧📚🎧 Connor Crais and Felicity Munroe did a fantastic job bringing the characters to life, and they understood who they were portraying, giving each a voice that was fitting and believable. Monroe nailed it as Phoenix, grasping every aspect of her personality, from her vulnerabilities and sorrow to her fierceness and determination and all in between. Crais was just as amazing in his role as Dante, showcasing all aspects of his personality as well, including his passiveness and alpha-tude. Both were fabulous performing the roles of the secondary characters too. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters’ emotions and had you feeling them all. These two are entertaining storytellers and their performance elevated this already amazing story to another level. Thank you for another exceptional listen.

Dante and Phoenix -- DUET NARRATION!

What a wonderfully twisty and turny adventure this was! Grabbed my interest right from the start and didn't let go. Neither main character knows the whole truth about what happened to the other, and the past for each is only revealed a little at a time. This was my first book by Eva Winner. I did not read or listen to any of the other books in the series. I bought the audio because of Connor Crais, who narrated with Felicity Munroe. There was lots of action and strong emotions in this one and it all came through in Connor's and Felicity's acting! I absolutely loved the DUET narration and the British, French and Italian accents gave this such a rich, European vibe As for the character of Dante, I can't imagine finding a better fit for the role than Connor Crais with his silky, smooth, seductive voice.

A bit annoying

Almost got whiplash from past to present. Although i did enjoy. This book. To me it would have been a lot. Better if the past had been explained the first four hours. It got tiring listening to Phoenix monologues she sounded so dense”should I, shouldn’t. I tell him” and psycho Dante, stalking and beating up any male friends. When they were together it was explosive yet annoying due to their secrets. Liked Ceaser’s character, Dante’s body guard.kept him on his toes, focused and safe. And of course Skye their little daughter. Narrators did a great job.

Long, with so much tension

Eva Winners has written another heart-stopping story. Love this series so far. This was a longer audiobook that had my day flying vs dragging on. I was so invested in the characters. I wondered if we'd ever get to the HEA, but there was so much going on and I was riveted. We got flash backs of years before within the present time. A few times it confused me. My heart physically ached as there were quite a few painful events throughout. I have so much to say, but no spoilers from me! I will be listening to this again.

Connor Crais and Felicity Munroe are excellent narrators! They were perfectly cast for the characters and had this rolling in my head like a movie. Their performances were emotional and entertaining.

Dante Story was Emotional/ Phoenix story is Inspirational

I truly enjoyed this book when I read and the audio book sent me to another emotional realm. I love this the fact the song“Dandelions” came into mind as I read the last few chapters. It was the reoccurring motifs throughout. I am not sure of the surrogacy story line or Sky adoption to the Nicoliaev family I think it’s gonna cause more complications in the second generation stories. As expected with Eva Winners. Excellent story telling.

Empowering and Gripping

This is a gripping tale of resilience and empowerment. Phoenix Romero, initially abandoned by Dante Leone, refuses to be his second choice. Dante, dangerously attractive yet emotionally unavailable, relentlessly pursues her, leading to a tumultuous reunion. As Phoenix travels the world seeking answers, she transforms into a stronger, self-assured woman. When Dante catches up, she’s no longer naive but empowered, ready to set her own rules and make him burn this time. Narrated by Connor Crais and Felicity Munroe, the voice actors bring this dark, drama-filled romance to life. The book's intense emotions and twists kept me captivated. A must-read for fans of passionate and suspenseful mafia romances.
