About this listen

Brewster Gilligan, an underachieving genius, believes that his loss on a television quiz show is the worst thing to ever happen to him. Little does he know that the phrase he answered with, a bit of trivia he remembered from his dead grandfather, was a scrap of forbidden knowledge that would trigger a cabal of dangerous immortals to hunt him down.

A wild listen!

Beyond fast-paced. A snotty protagonist is launched into a twisty habitrail of cosmic horror. A fun listen, but you have to be ready for a lot of very creative mysticism. Anything that says Curtis Lawson on it, I'll be listening!

Cosmic Horror and Black Humor

This was a fun listen on Audible. The protagonist isn’t a particularly likable fellow but the story makes up for it. The narrative flows like a movie and it is easy to picture all the crazy scenes of immortal combat and sorcery along with the blood and gore. It’s an enjoyable combination of cosmic horror and black humor. Definitely recommend to those who want a quick romp thru an inter dimensional drama where the stakes are the world as we know it.

Laird Barron-esque.

Thought I'd listen to this on my daily commute and it'd last me a week. After day 1 I was so intrigued I simply listened to it straight through at home.

I'm not always a fan of cosmic horror, but when it gets me, it gets me good, and it's the most absorbing fiction in my opinion. Suffice to say, the author(s) (is this a collaboration?) nailed it with THOSE WHO GO FORTH...

A gameshow kicks off the premise, and from there the pretentious protagonist is on a wild ride. There is so much at stake in this plot, which is difficult to pull off, but the engaging writing kept the story unfolding rapidly.

I listened to the audible, and the narration was excellent. A nod of appreciation to all involved with this one.
