About this listen

What if you woke up one day and the loved one you’d lost was suddenly, inexplicably alive again?

Chloe Howard’s devotion to her job has come at a cost: spending time with the most important person in her life - her mother. Vowing to change, she plans a trip home. Sadly, hours before she arrives, her mother passes away, leaving Chloe without a goodbye and riddled with grief and regret. But maybe...maybe it’s not too late.

Just days before the funeral, Chloe finds her mother unaccountably alive and well. And it’s no longer May; she’s been transported back in time to March. No one - not Chloe’s brother, friends, or colleagues - understands why Chloe is so confused. How can she make sense of this? It’s impossible. But Chloe is going to make the most of it. She’s going to do everything differently: repair family rifts, forge new bonds, tell her mother every day how much she loves her, and possibly prevent the inevitable.

This is a second chance Chloe never saw coming. She’s not wasting a minute of it.

Critic reviews

“The audio production reflects the real personalities involved as Fillipino American narrator Regullano infuses Mom's and Auntie's Filipino accents with authenticity and the inflections that Chloe and Andy sometimes lapse into, while voicing other characters with a Midwest feel. Being able to hear the vocal characterizations elevates the connection in this fantasy/romance/family tale, giving the listeners a fully rounded experience of the characters in a way that is very different from the mere written word.” Booklist

“This is a heart-wrenching novel about family and love, with a wide range of well-developed characters. Readers who enjoy novels by Jessica Strawser or Barbara O’Neal will need a box of tissues for this one.” Booklist (starred review)

“Readers will laugh and cry…” Library Journal

hopeful

I had a hard time getting past that the audio performer sounded like she was 14 rather than than the adult of the character.

Beautiful

This was a beautiful, (fanciful and inflective) novel about a very structured, focused, hard-working woman who experiences the result of a compounded stress life. I devoured this book so fast and really enjoyed it. Chloe was too overbearing and her obsessiveness with her mom’s health drove me nuts, but I understood why she became that way. Chloe, who is usually a very composed and contracted woman, has the gift of a lifetime from The Universe, a "Do-Over" after completely unraveling as a result of the high stress she puts on herself. There is also a sweet romance that develops, in the back ground. 4.5 stars!!

A bit slow at times

I enjoyed aspects of this story. There were times I just felt super frustrated with the main character. But it was a nice reminder to cherish the time we're given with our loved ones.

Great book, excellent read and good listen

I really enjoyed reading this book even though it made me cry. I lived right along with this character, the last couple of months with my mother. The character of the story got to have a great experience and the author leaves you with the question in your own mind, what if…? This story is beautifully written. I want to thank the author for the experience I had reading this book. It is one of the best books I have read this year. This is a must read for anyone who has lost a loved one and lives with guilt or regret. I would recommend it for anyone having trouble letting go as well.

This was a very touching story

But if you are grieving, it will hit you kind of hard with its realism. The author really has the ability to place you inside a world I truly wish I could visit. And it was a poignant, beautiful story. So sentimental and heartfelt.
