Publisher's summary

For Thor to live, Thunder Hunter must die.

A thousand years, that's how long I've been hunting the Fallen Ones that escaped Freya's field. One-hundred and ninety-five down, five to go. Just five disgusting evil spirits until I die and Thor's thunder will be returned to him. Nothing will stand in the way of me completing my mission, not even the woman who claims to be a descendant of Freya. I will kill the next Fallen One, no matter what.

I was hoping for more

(This is an unbiased review given in exchange for a free copy of the book)

The book started out great; Ian Fisher really brings a strong vocal talent, giving real life to the characters. I did find that (like most male narrators) his feminine voices can be a little off but that is to be expected. Overall I enjoyed the narration, good, not the best, also not the worst either.

The story on the other hand was....lacking. I appreciate all of the work that goes into making a story, fleshing out characters, greeting a plot and following thru with all of them to the inevitable conclusion...this story was just all over the place. The main character who fights Loki hundreds of years in the past is sent to live like a Highlander hunting down Nordic demons with no problems until he's on to the last few. I love historic retellings of viking warriors sacking towns and conquering the lands of ancient times, but you're going to tell me this guy lives thru centuries with time and societies advancing and progressing and still looks at every woman like they're another sexual conquest? I wouldn't think so.

Good read if you're looking for mindless action.

I will look forward to more from
Rachel Medhurst and Ian Fisher

Awesome Present Day Norse Mythology

I loved the mix of present day and Norse mythology. Everything that Trigger has gone through and how he just picks up and keeps moving even though he never asked for this is pretty awesome. I really enjoyed listening to Ian Fisher, Because while he used different accents and voices it was done really well and flowed naturally. After this I want to listen to/ read the rest of the Viking Soul series.

Wrong voices for main characters.

What did you like best about Thunder Hunter? What did you like least?

The story is enjoyable, though Triggers attitude was a bit annoying.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

Oh my where to start. The voices for Trigger and Chloe sounds like there from the slums of London. After 1000 years and being Viking raised, I don't believe he'd sound like that. Chloe is over 200 also raised somewhere else I don't remember where, well educated and so nope wouldn't sound like that.

Was Thunder Hunter worth the listening time?

When I got past the wrong voices for characters the narrator was fun to listen to.

Any additional comments?

There's a 5 second or so spot where it skips a little, dang I can't remember where.

Thor's Grandson Fights

I got this book via audiobook boom. Thor's grandson is given his power when Loki tries to kill him. Trigger is assigned a task to retrieve the souls who escaped her field. Chloe is a descendent of Freya. Trigger is tasked with teaching Chloe. This is a different take on the Viking tales. I found it amusing rather than suspenseful. The narrator did a good job with the whole story.

The Power of Lightning..

Any additional comments?

This book centers around the main lead, Trygger, who has been given the task or rather mission of smiting down
all of the "evil ones".

The concept was interesting but the book was slow in certain parts.

Overall, a mildly entertaining weekend read and I am interested in the other books in this trilogy.

Ian Fisher did well with the narration.

although its a good book...I didn't care for the narration...he wasn't bad, I was just expecting the characters to sound a little different in my own mind I guess.
I would recommend it as a read/listen.

Slow in some spots, but good overall

I have both read the ebook and listened to the audiobook. Although I found the concept of the story intriguing, I found the part about training Freya's descendant slow and boring. However, since this is the first book in the series, perhaps this is background that will make succeeding books more enjoyable. Perhaps it was needed to make the rest of the trilogy more understandable. As when I read the book, I found the character of Jack to be the most humorous and enjoyable.

I did enjoy the book more in audiobook format than just reading the ebook, so the narration definitely improved the book for me.

I would recommend this audiobook for someone who enjoys mythology/fantasy stories. It IS a good listen. I just didn't feel like there was any real threat or challenge to Trigger, and I didn't find myself really caring that much about the characters or how it ends. There is really no depth of character or emotional growth. It's just a good casual read/listen.

I received a copy of this audiobook free from the author. This is my honest, voluntary review.

Really good paranormal romance and action

What made the experience of listening to Thunder Hunter the most enjoyable?

I loved the main character"Thunder Hunter" . He is so jaded and hardened by his situation that when the woman is thrust into his life he is outraged. Of course he overcomes and the two make a cool pair. Plenty of action and packed with great characters and good narration, I recommend it to any paranormal romance fan. Norse gods, hot vikings and magic users, let's go!

Would you listen to Thunder Hunter again? Why?

Possibly before listening to the next book in the series if it's a while before I get to it. I think this might be a book where details I didn't pay much attention to the first time come into play in later books, and that will cause me to re-listen.

I don't re-listen very often, there are too many new books waiting for me to get to them.

What about Ian Fisher’s performance did you like?

I loved his voice, very smooth and nice to listen to, he did a good job with the characters voices, even the female voices worked well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yep, gave up some sleep to finish this one before going to bed, I had to know how it ended. Now I need the next book.

Any additional comments?

There was a small problem with the production in chapter 5 of the recording, there was 5-10 second of skipping in the first 2 minutes.

This book builds a good case of lead characters.
Trigger is the Thunder Hunter and it revolves around him, he's on a mission and after a millennium he;s been sent help.
Chloe has been sent to help, but at first it's not clear what she's going to be able to do to help, that will change, but she makes some rash decisions sometimes which makes for some interesting outcomes.
Jack is someone who could be playing both sides but so far it seems he's on the side of 'good', I suspect he'll keep things interesting.
The interactions between the three of them are amusing.
