About this listen

In the latest riveting thriller from James Rollins, the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sigma Force series, an international research station in the Coral Sea comes under siege during a geological disaster that triggers massive quakes, deadly tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions. To stop the world from burning, it’s up to Sigma Force to uncover a secret buried at the heart of our planet.

The Titan Project—an international research station off the coast of Australia—discovers a thriving zone of life in an otherwise dead sea. The area teems with a strange bioluminescent coral that defies science, yet holds great promise for the future. But the loss of a military submarine in the area triggers a brutal attack and sets in motion a geological disaster that destabilizes an entire region.

Massive quakes, volcanic eruptions, and deadly tsunamis herald a greater cataclysm to come—for something is stirring miles under the ocean, a threat hidden for millennia.

As seas turn toxic and coastlines burn, can Sigma Force stop what has been let loose—especially as an old adversary returns, hunting them and thwarting their every move? For any hope of success, Commander Gray Pierce must search for a key buried in the past, hidden deep in Aboriginal mythology. But what Sigma could uncover is even more frightening—something that will shake the very foundations of humanity.

The authors sharing of what is real and what is fiction at the end!

James Rollins creates such a grand adventure that feels like it could be the next headline in our International papers!

SIGMA FORCE YES! NARRATOR BIG NO!

Let me start out by saying I have never given a review, but I just have to on this o e. The story, as always was wonderful. Rollins always has intriguing ideas, but I cannot believe he has listened to this narrator and was like “yes! He’s the guy!” because he is just awful. He pauses in weird places and puts emphasis on and excitement into words that don’t need it. It’s just awful. I won’t listen to another one if he is the author. Some books just need to be read the old fashioned way.

Creation

A truly exciting story full of scientific revelations wrapped in a full on adventure above and below the sea. Wonderful characters and not just our favorite Sigma crew. Leaves you with so many questions.

Tides of Fire

The story was very interesting however the narrator was hard to understand. I had to slow the speed down to catch what was being said.

Definitely a thriller

Too long. Be sure to print the cast of characters. It gets hard to follow the jumps back and forth, especially with the different Chinese forces at work!

Not worth reading

The dual settings of action on the surface and also far under water destroyed the storyline. The characters were jumbled and it was unclear why anyone was doing anything. It is a mess of science blather and silliness mixing volcanoes, giant coral creatures, bullets, earthquakes, and revenge. I am disappointed since I usually like this writer.

please change the narratora

The story was ok. I could not get into it beacause of the narrator. Also, typical for JR, the fight and action scenes are waaaay too long and waay too detailed - hard to get through.

Definitely not his best

If it's not broken, don't fix it. I enjoy this series. However, this book was tough to finish. It is all over the place. Seemed as though interesting material for this book was in short supply. To fill in, for the lack of material, numerous(very numerous) characters were added. This plethora, of random characters, in no way added to the story's enjoyment. It was distracting and added no substance. Hope he gets back to actual storytelling in future books.

Should be read then heard

The story gets a bit too convoluted and with the different names of people and boats it became confusing at times. May be better if I was reading this book instead.
