Publisher's summary

The author of The Girls Are All So Nice Here returns with a thriller set in the vineyards of Napa Valley that asks: what happens when the husband you thought died years ago shows up alive?

Ten years ago, June’s beloved husband drowned on their honeymoon, his body never found. Now, a decade later, June is finally ready to move on. She owns a natural wine bar in Brooklyn and is engaged to a patient, supportive man named Kyle. She’s excited to finally begin a new chapter in her life and start a family.

But out of the blue, she sees him—Josh, her first husband. Is this just a hallucination from the guilt June carries about finally moving on, or is it possible that her husband never died in the first place?

June tries to forget about this vision, chalking it up to grief and nerves, but soon enough, she stumbles across a website for a winery in Napa, and the owner in the photo is identical to her dead husband. With her upcoming wedding looming and a fiancé who’s already worried she hasn’t quite left her past behind, June secretly flies to Napa for answers. But she’s not prepared for all the secrets she’s about to unlock because everything she thought she knew about her first love is a lie.

What else could she have thrown in

I couldn’t wait to finish because of the 3000 (exaggerating just a bit) suspects - I was too invested to put it down. Left out some vital info to force plot twists. I wanted to like this book but just could not. And the final suspect - huh??

Not the best…not the worst

I wanted to like this book. It started out with promise but with all the plot points it became messy and confusing. Not to mention I feel like this story line has been explored before. Some may really like this book but it was not for me. Plus, the voice actors sounded like robots and it made it difficult to listen.

Meh

TILL DEATH DO US PART tells the story of two women, newlywed June whose husband Josh has tragically drowned in the present and Josh’s mother Bev from 1999.

Laurie Elizabeth Flynn’s latest novel starts off slowly. I was confused at how the pieces fit together. About halfway into the TILL DEATH DO US PART, the pace increased and I became more invested in the story.

The ending lacked the payoff I had anticipated. The twists were creative, but fell flat and felt anticlimactic and left me feeling meh.

SPOILERS

I couldn’t buy into twins switching places, sleeping with their partners/spouses with no one the wiser. Parents should be able to tell their teenage twins apart and children should know who was and was not their parent.

Frustrating ending

Didn’t like the main character! Liked the Napa backdrop. Liked the theme that featured twins. La de da.

Ending sucks

Was so engaged in the book but then it was just a total let down with the characters in the end.
