About this listen

Forget minor hazards like nuclear bombs. The discovery of time travel means that everything we know, anyone we know, might not only vanish, but never even have existed.

Against that possibility stand the men and women of the Time Patrol, dedicated to preserving the history they know and protecting the future from fanatics, terrorists, and would-be dictators who would remold the shape of reality to suit their own purposes.

But Manse Everard, the Patrol's finest temporal trouble-shooter, bears a heavy burden. The fabric of history is stained with human blood and suffering which he cannot, must not do anything to alleviate, lest his tampering bring disastrous alterations in future time.

Everard must leave the horrors of the past in place, lest his tampering - or that of the Patrol's opponents, the Exaltationists - erase all hope of a better future, and instead bring about a future filled with greater horrors than any recorded by past history at its darkest and most foul.

Invaluable tool for generational waealth of knowledge.

Human Perspective Throughout The Ages, and also in one's own mind relative to the now time. This series of stories is incredible. And yeah, I don't like every character, but really does one like every person they encounter or be blessed to work with. You learn, in the earnest time of a Christian heart, to love them regardless. The book os filled with riches, adventure, loss, and horror. I'm not one for horror, but the reality of it, and the careful placement of scene details or not through the hard times is infact a bandaid. what heals... a learning lesson, a find adventure sure, but thinking and thoughts, feeling and understanding, perspective on what it is to be a human then now and in the future. it is, was, and hopefully will be still a great book for the generations. I will recommend this book to my children, when the inevitable questions vome up aboit differint religions, times, and the events of the world. It won't replace my teachings for them, but compliment it with story. Thank you for writing it. I feel this will be an invaluable tool for my gereations to help understand humanity, the world, and our place. in it. Is it available in Hardcover by chance? P-Leather bound if you don't mind. thanks.

Starts off exciting

Story starts off fantastic. About the fourth chapter the excitement is gone and the story is very bland.

I really wanted this to be good

I love historical fiction, I love time travel stories. I had high hopes for this book. The concept of how time travel happens is good. The details of the time periods is really good. My enjoyment ends there. I really struggled to finish. The author really liked colorful adjectives, It's as if he went to the thesaurus and said, "what word would make me sound smarter." It is awful. So many times the descriptors are laughable; strongly giving the impression of someone trying to hard to sound smart. It was so prevalent it really took away from the story. I was also not a fan of his misogyny. Yes, I understand gender dynamics and roles varied throughout history; but the author really went out of his way to talk about that aspect of history and make sure his time travelling characters took advantage of it. Do not waste your time on this mediocre novel.

I can not listen to this Horrible Narrator

I love Poul Anderso, have for decades... but even his excellent writing can not hold up to this sophomoric pretender of a Narrator. I may have to return this audio book for a credit ( whichout of 400+ books I've only done twice)...such a waste of a great story.
The narrator sounds like a College Jock trying to fake his way through an 101 Acting Class... insulting attempts at accents,
no idea how to use syntax or puntuation... just flat out irritating from to start... I hope Tantor Audio (who normally have Great Narrators, even mediocre ones) will re record this novel...
