About this listen

What if you could go back in time and change the one thing you regret the most?

Gwen Waters gets the chance to find out when she’s recruited into the time traveling black op run by the FBI. In the six years since the loss of her husband and infant daughter, Gwen has been in survival mode, trying to just get through every day, barely living. Then the Transtemporal Agency comes knocking, offering Gwen a second chance at a life, and the opportunity to do good in the world.

Gwen quickly discovers that time travel is dangerous and challenging. She feels the exhilaration of having a purpose again—correcting rifts in the timeline. She also finds friends and support unlike she’s ever experienced. Gwen starts to realize that she could actually be happy. Despite the magical new life she’d been handed, Gwen can’t stop asking herself, what if her husband and daughter hadn’t died? Is it worth giving up all she’s gained to go back and undo the last six years? What will happen to the Transtemporal Agency if she decides to go back?

Timelines is an interesting time travel tale that wraps you in and doesn't let go. Part romance, part love and loss, and all-in time travel mystery and intrigue, this story surprised me. Incredible narration by the gifted Skye Alley. Looking forward to the next installment.

Great Twist on Time Travel Theme

I rarely give 2 stars to books I manage to finish. But this one is close. I’m only bumping it to 3 stars because the narrator was a major issue for me and maybe the novel would be better with a different one.

Gwen is an FBI agent whose husband and daughter died a few years before the story starts. She’s still struggling with guilt over their deaths when she is recruited to be a time travel agent.

It seems to take half the novel to get to the main story. Then things get a bit interesting, but also rather convoluted. The ending is satisfying.

I will never listen to another book narrated by Skye Alley. When reading, she seems to put all the emphasis in the wrong place. She was a distracting narrator.

(In a weird example of time travel, Chapter 7 was left out and tacked on to the end. And strangely enough, I didn’t even notice it was missing.)

Has potential, but narrator too distracting
