About this listen

Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown - especially the crown of the fairy realm….

Sophie Drake has made a promise, and she never breaks her word. She will free Michael Murray's long-lost wife from the fairy realm even if her intensifying feelings for him make it the most painful thing she’s ever done. But Sophie is running out of time. Dark fae forces are stirring, threatening the human world. To make matters worse, humans are being cast out of the Realm, whether or not they want to leave, and the shock from these sudden evictions can even prove fatal. It's only a matter of time before it happens to Michael’s wife. All this in the name of the fairy queen. Stunned, Sophie knows this is impossible because she's the queen. She won the throne fair and square, through trials and blood. Now she must find and fight an impostor for a crown she never wanted in order to save both the Realm and the human world.

Whirling Through the Fairy Kingdom Again

When you read/listen to a number of books by one author, you start to pick up on their writing idiosyncrasies. I love that when I pick up a Shanna Swendson novel I know it's going to be light, entertaining and will include the word "whirled" numerous times. Swendson's novels always have strong heroines with a well-developed moral compass, and will always fight to do the right thing. And they will always whirl on their attacker/aggressor/person annoying them today. They also smile enigmatically. All. The. Time. I don't actually think this is a problem, more like the author's thumbprint in the text. I now look forward to how many time she will use them in a particular book. Listen to this story and count for yourself!

Nope.

I tried, but it's a no for me. I fell completely in love with the enchanted inc series and I had high hopes for this series. I didn’t enjoy book 1 very much but maybe, I thought, the series just needed a little more time to start. this didn’t happen. I don't know how the same author can have written these 2 series. the themes and the way the author develop the plot are kinda the same, but in enchanted inc the characters were flashed out and their personality and needs came through between the spaces left by the plot. not here. the plot might be interesting but it sounds bland and just THAT. I won’t continue with the third book.
