About this listen

A woman's tender touch....

He was born to a clan of warriors of supernatural strength, but Gavrael McIllioch abandoned his name and his Highland castle, determined to escape the dark fate of his ancestors. Hiding his identity from the relentless rival clan that hunted him, he called himself Grimm to protect the people he cared for, vowing never to acknowledge his love for ravishing Jillian St. Clair.

Yet even from afar he watched over her, and when her father sent an urgent summons, "Come for Jillian," he raced to her side - into a competition to win her hand in marriage.

A warrior's steely heart....

Why had he run from her so many years before? And why return now to see her offered as a prize in her father's manipulative game? Furious, Jillian vowed never to wed. But Grimm was the man she loved, the one who urged her to marry another. He tried to pretend indifference as she tempted him, but he could not deny the fierce desires that compelled him to abduct her from the altar. She was the only woman who could tame the beast that raged within him - even as deadly enemies plotted to destroy them both.

Get it for the narration.

What made the experience of listening to To Tame a Highland Warrior the most enjoyable?

The voice. OMG It was the best. I have listened to many audio books and no matter how great the story is, if the narration is crap --- it can ruin a story.

Who was your favorite character and why?

GRIMM -- Because how can you resist such a sexy man? Followed 2nd by his uncle.

Which character – as performed by Phil Gigante – was your favorite?

GRIMM

Love it

I have to say I enjoy listening to ms Moning book in audible format it is more enjoyable then reading the novel, I read this book years ago and was excited to see it was on audible the narrator has a nice voice and I liked his Scottish accent. His female voices are a little off but it didn’t ruin my enjoyment of listening instead of reading it. I recommend this for all Highlander fans who loves the heroines to be innocent and the men as masculine as possible but also protective.

Better than the first

This book is better than the first! I think this is the 3rd time I have listened to this book too. Although it doesn’t contribute to the overall series, I just really like these characters. I’m glad I listened to it again. I have never restart a complete series and listened to all the books like I am this time, not even “Harry Potter “!Although, I may just listen to the Kate Daniel series again after the final book:)

Outstanding story.

I’ve listened to each book in this series in order and have loved every one of them. . Each story in this series is outstanding. Grimm’s story is no exception. I was hooked from the beginning through out the entire story, hanging on every word. Karen Marie Moning is a very gifted author. Book one in this series was the first book I listened to by this author. I instantly became a fan for life.
Phil G. has performed every story in this series with great emotion, tenderness, and humor. He has become one of my favorite narrators. Unfortunately in his performance of this audiobook, he performed some of the main female characters voices with a southern draw. Although previous stories had women with a southern accent in it, this story does not until the epilogue. Unfortunately there were multiple times Chloe spoke with a southern accent, instead of a Scottish accent. I wish all authors sent their books to an audiobook copy editor to listen and check each narrator’s performance of their audiobook. You may pm me for a recommendation of an ACE.)
Other than that, Phil was once again outstanding. Sadly for me, one who does check audiobooks, the wrong accent drove me a bit crazy until I forced myself to block it out and just fall into the story. And fall into it I did. This is a must have audiobook. The story is outstanding. Although I prefer to listen to books in a series in order, each book in this series is a great stand alone. I highly recommend this audiobook.

A very satisfying listen.

I was a little annoyed/put off by Grimm's early behavior toward Jillian, even though I understood the reason behind it.
The same goes for the broad lack of communication between the main characters. I wanted to shake them. But, I suppose that is the mark of a good story...to get the reader emotional about it.
Well done!

Epic Love Story!

This is the most beautiful and moving storytelling of a man coming to acceptance of himself, his heritage and his love for one woman. At the same time it reveals the love and frustration of the woman who is his true mate. Karen Marie Moning makes you feel every emotion from laughter to tears and everything in between. Phil Gigante transports into their world with his fantastic brogue and unique voices for each character. I highly recommend this book, you are sure to love it.

This one could stand alone

So far, this one is my favourite. I'm not keen on the time traveling in the other two I've listened to so far. This one would be independent of the series and work very well.
This is so worth a listen if for nothing else than to hear the narrator give the Clergyman the voice from the priest in The Princess Bride film. I laughed out loud when I heard it! "Ma-wage" haha!!
Great book all around. I'm really enjoying the series even if I'm picky about the time travel in the others. This one doesn't have that element but it's still magical.

I want more!!!

Well, once again Moning swipe me off of my feet with one more of her love stories! Some might say, it's repetitive...the same thing over and over in all the books. However, isn't it how life is? Just a biggo routine! I loved how she intertwined the characters from the first one "Highland mist"; I loved how the heroine already had feelings for him, and no matter what, she was ready to have his back! And her love brough emotional healing to his turmoiled heart, even though, he's this huge mighty warrior, he succumbes to her :)

I read in some other review, that the reviewer didn't like the fact that she though Grimm and Hawke were supposed to be best friends... etc etc... and she didn't see this on the second book.

*spoilers* lol
They were/are best friends! The book starts with them together, and Grimm only leaves to go after Jillian. After all is set and done, Grimm, now accepting who and what he is, calling himself Gavriel, returns to Hawke's place to wed Jillian up there. IF THIS is NOT friendship then I don't know what is LOL Now, in the middle of the story, there's quite a few mention of this other lad (whom I can't recall the name now) who used to be Grimm's best friend when they were teens... like 15 years ago, before he fled his dad's lair.

Anyhow... great all in all! I recommend! And I can only hope that she will continue to cross her books and stories in the series :)

wasn't hooked after the first but now i'm into it!

I read all of Karen Moning's Fever series which I loved until the end, I especially was disappointed with the last book. But, that's another review. I love this author. Highlander II is light easy listening, is part of a larger story and builds on Highlander I in small part and i'm eager to find out what will happen next. I've never read a harlequin novel - though I imagine this is Scottish fable meets harlequin. The steamy scenes were tame and cliche and there are several throughout the story. It is suspenseful in parts and I couldn't wait to find out what would happen next!!! The characters are charismatic. The messages are positive about love and family and values. Highlander I was enjoyable yet seemed a bit silly and just wasn't hooked. I'm going to get the third one right away!
