Letdown after first book

This book was not nearly as good as the first in the series. I feel like nothing really happened (other than the one big thing). The rest was just filler with boring events and arguments that were stupid. That’s the review of the book. Regarding the narrators, Christian Fox was great. Veronica Meunch was not. I loved her performing The Girl in 6E (great series!), but she was horrible in this book. She pronounced “hand” as “hey-and” and that word seemed to be in every paragraph of the book. She pronounced “bury” as “burry,” like rhymes with “hurry.” That word was also used a lot. Lastly, she sounded like she has emphysema. She was drawing in sharp breaths before sentences, and her breath had that wheezing noise. Reviews for the next book in the series mention that she sounds like she has a cold, so I’m going to pass. She also used a “baby talk” voice through a lot of the book. Worth a credit? IMO, no.

OMG....THIS BOOK IS OUTSTANDING..

Would you listen to Torn again? Why?

OH YEAH..

Who was your favorite character and why?

I AM GOING WITH RIVER, HE HAD TO ENDURE A LOT.

Which character – as performed by Veronica Meunch and Christian Fox – was your favorite?

Christian did a great job with Ben voice, even though I think he does a sexy River. Also Veronica, I would watch out for her.. She is going to be one of the up and coming voices you will love to listen to. They both were outstanding

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes, and I did, all day today..

Any additional comments?

I waited for this book to come out, and it was killing me. After reading the first one, I was out of my mind. I just knew that cliffhanger was going to destroy me and a group of others that were following Ms. Karr books. And we are very happy this book was written the way it was.. . But tonight I am proud to say we are Happy and tears were flowing over the love these two have for one another. I got to say this as well. Nothing was boring about this book. She wrote everything that was needed to keep them in the space they were at from book one. It was good to see emotions, fears, and pure anger come out in this, it was needed to make this book what it had to be. Second time I have said this.. These are books that made women read.. And they are hard to find. Pay attention authors.. this is what we love, adore and want.

Love / Hate

Loved story line, hated the narrator. Veronica was awesome as Dahlia and River. Christian was horrible as both.
I hate the change in narrator

Read if you like: second chances, soulmates...

✨ "When love faces the storm, do you hold on tighter or let go?"

Read if you like: second chances, soulmates, emotional rollercoasters, rock star romances, and stories about navigating the storms of love.

📚 Torn picks up right where Connected left us hanging and dives straight into the twists and turns of River and Dahlia’s story. With secrets exposed and a blast from the past threatening their happiness, this sequel challenges their bond in ways that push them toward growth, understanding, and maturity.

👨‍👧 River Wilde is the devoted, swoon-worthy rock star who truly shines in this book. His resilience and passion for Dahlia make you root for him from start to finish. Meanwhile, Dahlia steps into her own power—becoming stronger, wiser, and more secure in both herself and their relationship. Seeing her evolution made their love story feel even more authentic and earned.

💞 River and Dahlia’s chemistry remains electric, but what stands out here is how their love deepens. It’s no longer just sparks and passion; it’s about weathering the storms together. The emotional complexity of their relationship is beautifully portrayed, proving that true love is about more than just the highs—it’s about holding on through the lows.

👧 Secondary characters play a more prominent role in *Torn*, adding depth to the story and highlighting just how important a support system can be during tough times. Their moments of levity and wisdom balance the intense emotional stakes.

🌟 Torn reminds us that love isn’t perfect—it’s messy, challenging, and sometimes painful—but when it’s real, it’s worth fighting for.

awesome love story

Wouldn't everyone love to have such a love story? The story held my interest. A couple of pieces of the story seemed a little unbelievable but makes the book interesting. I really like Christian Fox.

Loved it!!

Loved the story. Loved the narrators. This was the perfect continuation of River and Dahlia’s story. Loved their growth and the undeniable connection they had. The narrators brought these two to life and really added so much to the story!

Love this Series. Hope there's more.

Great conclusion to a great 2 part book. It didn't drag on letting the pieces fall into place so that River & Dahlia get their happily ever after. Their love story was romantic without being overly mushy which is not always easily found. I'm hoping the author continues with maybe Ben's story and maybe the others. But if not, at least River & Dahlia are finally together & happy.

It dragged a little at the end, but it was a beautiful HEA

I love River. It seemed to resolve all their issues by the middle of the book. Also, wish River had stayed in the band.

WOW !!

Well, I know it's all been said before but I've just gotta say it again….this was the most amazing listen. I have only given 2 other books 5's in my many, many years and hundreds of books with Audible as I'm a hard sell. I was enthralled by the first two books in this series but this one, the final adventure we get to hear about in River and Dahlia's relationship captured and held me hostage way into the wee hours of the morning (started the book early in the day). This was the best not just because of the HEA ending, but mainly because of the realism of two and sometimes three or more young adults in love. Not unlike most young love these two had enough to deal with in their relationship, his career, them being young, both having lost parents at a young age and other losses but then had to deal with the presence of the ole' green-eyed monster, lack of being about the "talk" about things but instead impulsively acting them out and causing more rifts in their already teetering relationship.

There were times in this book that I was afraid to listen further, held my breath, gave one or another of the hero/heroine a fist pump, sneered at culprits, questioned loyalties with a heavy heart, placed my hand over my heart and sighed with lust and relief and anxiously waited to hear what was going to happen next.

Like I said, WOW. This book kept my heart pounding, my toes tingling and my emotions on the surface; the writing and the narrations, which were way beyond excellent are all of the things that make a book a 5 in my estimation.

I'll also say it again, this book could have been ruined by lousy narration and I'm so thankful that that was not the case. Thank you Audible
