Publisher's summary

Transformation Road takes the listener on the long and often tragic journey of Sean Anderson's battle with food and morbid obesity spanning just about his entire life. His experience with declaring war with himself graphically depicts the tortured soul of most of us who face an addictive and pathological relationship with food. Having won many a battle but inevitably losing his war, Sean offers us some insight as to who the real enemy has been.

Critic reviews

" Transformation Road takes the reader away from the typical weight loss fixes and asks the reader to consider the nature of emotional eating and the "symptom" of obesity. The author reveals his "moment of clarity" and the resultant decision to declare a truce with his war with food. What follows is Sean's recipe for food addiction recovery. Although incorporating some suggestions that run contrary to some recovered food addicts, Sean's experiences are worth learning about and considering." (Dr. Marty Lerner PhD., CEO Milestones In Recovery)

Too long winded..........

Too long winded, but the meat of his transformation was 3/4 into the book. Still worth listening too and valuable information towards the end.

Transformation Road

I listen to Sean's podcast and now read his blog daily.
He is so genuine and moving. I like that fact that he was completely honest and up front about everything. It's hard to be that personal like an open book.
This book I will listen to again and again.
No one could have narrated his story any better.
I just LOVE Sean's voice!!
I added this to my arsenal of healthy weight tools to keep me where I need to be.
Many many thanks to Sean for telling his story.

A lifechanging story for anyone struggling

Where does Transformation Road - My Trip to Over 500 Pounds and Back rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

One of the best. I didnt want to listen to this for a while. I started it and didnt have the patience to listen and quit it for about 6 months. I even wished I could delete it.

I wasnt ready to listen to it. I wasnt ready to identify with it. I wasnt ready to change.

Thank you for writing your story and thank you even more for taking the time to personally narate it. It's a powerful story, utterly honest and with the power to help.

Surreptitious advertising for the food industry

Is there anything you would change about this book?

This is just another diet book that cannot go three pages without naming a brand of pizza, soda pop, cake etc... If you were writing a book to help alcoholics overcome an addiction, would you write Jack Daniels, Budweiser, Vodka, Spiced Rum, Coors, Jim Beam on every third page? In a movie, this is called product placement, and companies pay to have thier products included. In a diet and weight loss book, it is even more insidious advertising, because it goes directly into the mind of the most vulnerable audience, and most likely to go buy whatever product you planted in their minds within a day or so. Which will hopefully, ignite or re ignite the addiction. This particular book, cannot get 5 pages in before naming a pizza brand and talk about cake, biscuits and sausage gravy, and eating and food food food. As I listen to chapter one of the audio book version, the author literally, cannot go 3 minutes without putting junk food and eating into the mind of the reader/listener. NOTHING else this author says matters as far as I am concerned. That is ALL you are meant to get out of a book like this. It is advertising junk food to the weak and vulnerable. Plain and simple.

Would you recommend Transformation Road - My Trip to Over 500 Pounds and Back to your friends? Why or why not?

See step 3. No, I cannot recommend anything written to promote junk food to those suffering from obesity.

What three words best describe Sean A. Anderson’s voice?

This is a stupid question

Did Transformation Road - My Trip to Over 500 Pounds and Back inspire you to do anything?

Yes, look for another book.

Any additional comments?

Crybaby fat guy selling pizza and other junk food.
