Publisher's summary
Pieces of eight! Pieces of eight! When young Jim Hawkins unexpectedly inherits a treasure map, he little knows what adventures await him.
Pursued by pirates, betrayed by friends and beset by skulduggery, Jim must brave high seas and low cunning before he reaches the shores of Treasure Island.
His fellow treasure hunters include the inflexible Captain Smollett, the indefatigable Doctor Livesey and the irrepressible Squire Trelawney. And then there's the ship's cook: a seafaring man with one leg who goes by the name of Long John Silver....
Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure is brought thrillingly to life in this brand-new full-cast audiobook adaptation.

Very very well done.
A fantastic cast and wonderfully produced. This is likely an abridged version of the original book, as I believe they explain, but it's done with taste and to ensure the flow of the story.

Spellbinding!
A thoroughly magnificent dramatisation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s epic tale. The voice casting in this production is outstanding and will leave you hanging on every delicious word. Supported not in the least by a rollicking score with realistic sound effects, you won’t help but smell the salt in the air and feel the wind upon your face as you embark on this classic journey to Treasure Island.

Fantastic!
I listened to this with some trepidation. I first read Treasure Island 50 years ago, and have re-read it maybe 20 times since then. If they messed this up, I was going to be really upset.
Well.... they didn't mess it up! Tom Baker and the rest of the cast are wonderful, and the adaptation is straight down the line. This is no sentimentalized John Silver, the grim old pirate with a heart of gold: behind his hearty laugh, he's a cunning and ruthless devil.
Of particular note is the outstanding score by Howard Carter. The full orchestral suite is included in the extras Big Finish always provides. I only wish it were available separately so I could add it to my music collection.

Clean language for children
Clean language for children. Kept my son, of 7 years old, attention. And the next day he wanted to listen to it again.

Behind the Scenes Takes Up a Lot of the Audio
We really enjoyed the audio drama -- great sound effects and voices. Follows the original story very well. I was expecting a 3 hr audio but a good portion of the "behind the scenes" takes up a lot of that time. Even the behind the scenes is interesting in and of itself but not what I was expecting when I purchased.

Misleading
The perf was good, what little story was good. The last half is not book or performance its bio and score. So less than 2 hrs of content. I was looking for the book with good performance but this was just a taste.
