About this listen

Driven by desperation, Grace Hawkins must forsake the affluent comfort of her upbringing to save herself from an arranged marriage. Disillusioned by her father's insistence, she forges a daring plan to escape the sinister hand of her intended. Peter Colton sees the Alaskan gold rush as an opportunity to establish his family's fledgling shipping business. An unexpected partnership enables him to pursue those dreams and opens the door to an acquaintance with Grace, who has purchased passage north. Drawn together by need and circumstance, Grace and Peter form a faltering friendship. But when her deserted fiancee continues to manipulate her loved ones, can she find peace in the wake of his wrath?

Critic reviews

"A very good story that causes the reader to cheer, cry, and dispair for the miners and the heroines." ( The Historical Novels Review)

It was sweet but not my preference

This wasn’t a complete waste of time but I enjoy deeper romances (nothing erotic) and I would’ve liked it to have more suspense. I could see this being an appropriate book for a 14 year old girl.

Treasures of the North

This was quite different from the last series I had read. After adjusting to the new setting of the North, I settled in to hope that things would be all right.

I liked the example of putting God first and trusting in Him. Also because in Alaska.

Excellent Story!

If you could sum up Treasures of the North in three words, what would they be?

Great ! Great! Great!

Which character – as performed by Laural Merlington – was your favorite?

Laural is by far the most outstanding narrator ever! She has a different voice for every character! Each one is completely different so that you know who is speaking.
accolades to Laural!!!

Any additional comments?

Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite authors, every book keeps me glued to the story. The problem is I can't put it down, she keeps me wanting more. Every book she writes does the same!

Wonderfully told story of brave but hurting people

One of my favorite Tracie Peterson’s novels. The characters are so flawed and real but determined to seek God’s direction in their broken lives. The need for godly community even in a lonely place is so apparent and well done.
