About this listen

Best-selling author Tracie Peterson tells a gripping tale of faith, adventure, and love, set amidst the savage beauty of 1915 Alaska.

With starvation stalking, Leah welcomes her brother Jacob's dogsled full of supplies. But not until she unwraps the scarf-covered sled driver does she realize she's been embracing Jacob's friend Jayce, the man who broke her heart a decade ago. Although she insists that Jacob get rid of Jayce immediately, a sudden snow storm and a disabling injury delay his departure.

Adventure, love and faith

Great story that really makes you want to travel to Alaska. This story was full of mystery, romance and learning to trust God no matter what comes your way, or doesn't come your way. I only wish that the ending was a little more developed.

Christian

I loved that there are no curse words and that it’s a very Christian based book.

Loved this book, but can't find the second book

Loved this book and was looking forward to books 2 and 3 of this series. Very disappointed to find out that the second book was never recorded in audio format. books 1 and 3 are found in audio, book 2 is only in print.

Give it a try!

I don't think you'll be disappointed. Very well written. This is not your average "inspirational" offering.

The love between Leah and Jayce was so sweet. I liked how Jacob would witness about the Lord to Helena.

The story left you wondering what happened to Helena being kidnapped by Chase Kincaid. Hopefully the next book shares the details.

This is a great Christian fiction!

Leah and her brother, Jacob, I ran a small “trade” store in a small community in Alaska close to Nome. Jacob was also well known for his “sled dogs”. They were among the healthiest and best trained in the area. Orphaned in their teen years, they swore to always care for each other.
Leah was worried about Jacob. It was not unusual for him to be gone a few days at a time hunting and for supplies. This time it had been too many days. She tried to trust God to protect him, but supplies were almost gone.
When she finally saw his bundled up form coming through the fog, she ran and hugged him, shocked when she realized it was not her brother.
Jayce was her brother’s best friend, years ago, who had broken her heart. It had been a decade since she had seen him. Why was he here now? Could her heart really take this? Can she bring herself to forgive him and not be bitter?
Helaina worked for the Pinkertons. She was determined to catch and take the murderous, thieving Jayce Kincaid to Seattle, where the authorities there agreed to assist in capturing him. He would hang for his crimes!
Jacob had been injured and unable to travel. This is why he had taken so long. It was also where he miraculously ran into his old friend, again. Jayson, a geologist, had been commissioned to go on an expedition. He wanted Jacob and his dogs to go with him.
When the four of these individual’s paths cross, this is when the real, mostly unpredictable, adventures begin.
This is a dramatic, religiously impacted, romance and adventure novel. Among other topics are: misjudgment, condemnation, forgiveness, survival, disaster, Pinkertons, Christlikeness.
The story involves conflicts, and some unexpected “twists “. It successfully keeps the reader involved and interested. The characters are well-defined and the situations well-portrayed..
Christina Moore does a commendable job narrating this story.
I offer a four Stars rating for this production and tale.

Cut Off Ending

I enjoyed every minute of this book. I could not stop listening. The author was very descriptive and the story held my attention very well. I was disappointed that the end of the book was like the end of a chapter. It seemed unfinished and I was disappointed that there was not a second book to carry on the unfinished end of this one.

Wonderful book

This book was great to listen to!! The plot was great and the narrator was really good! Very intriging moments and drama that does not have a predictable ending like most Christian fiction books.

A great and moving narrative.

As a Baha'i I totally agree that we must always have Faith and trust in God and His Messengers.. Thanks for a moving story. I look forward to the next book in the series.
