About this listen

THERE ARE OLD PILOTS AND BOLD PILOTS—AND DEAD AND COLD PILOTS.

Luke Angel is on a routine cargo flight in the Bahamas, anticipating an icy beer waiting for him on the far side, but when a distress call diverts him into a watery landing in the turquoise Caribbean waters, he ends up with a dead pilot and a mysterious unconscious woman on his hands.

The island town of Hooper’s Haven is a refuge for the wealthy and glamorous.

And their secrets.

When his passenger disappears from the local hospital, Luke has more questions than answers about who she really is. Torn between his desire to bug out ahead of deteriorating weather, and his duty to see his passenger safely home, he finds himself walking a knife edge of danger.

Someone has buried their secrets deep in Hooper’s Haven and the more Luke digs, the more likely he is to be the one to end up in the ground. A killer has struck twice and has the whole island running scared. But Luke Angel never runs when he can fly. And now he’s throttling up for a dogfight.

Strap in for another gripping aviation mystery, with characters you’ll root for, high-flying action, and a wings-on-fire plunge to the finale you won’t want to stop listening to.

the story lines

Luke gets in bind and gets out with the beautiful girl! Every time. This is my second audio book in the series and enjoyed it.

The little antique plane was a real heroine.

Loved the theme of a beloved little antique plane. Scott Bricks always brings the drama in--great attempted escape scene. I like this series. Perhaps a little more character development so I can learn who these people are and why. I'll keep reading.

Aviation realism in an action packed thriller

I enjoyed the second book of the Tropic series with its solid cast of characters and a fast paced storyline. As an amphibious seaplane pilot and owner, I especially appreciate the realism in the descriptions of flying the Mallard.

Story flowed well, perfect mix of action, romance, plot, and technical details

I really enjoyed this sequel to Tropic Angel, I love anything narrated by Scott Brick, and Nate Van Coops does a great job of mixing action, a great storyline, and describing technical details without it being boring or slowing the action down. Hope there is a 3rd book in the works!

I found my new Clive Cussler

I love the book and the way the writer perfectly describes the aircraft and the characters.

Splashing good fun

This is a fun series, and I hope there will be more after this one. Well developed characters, lots of action (although the air to air combat scene was a bit over the top). Who doesn’t love Drummond flying boats? My only advice to the author is “more Jimmy Buffett, less Jason Bourne”.
