About this listen

Being back in small-town Salvation is pretty much the last thing I wanted. Well, having my jerk of an ex-boyfriend publish naked photos of me to a revenge porn site is the absolute last thing, but ending up back in my small hometown humiliated and broke is definitely a strong number two.

Yet here I am.

And the only person less thrilled to see me back is my former-hookup-and-now-police-chief Mateo Garcia. He thinks I'm nothing but trouble. I'm not saying he's wrong, but there's more to me than a few youthful misdemeanors. I'm going to prove just that to the town and the sexy, surly man who thinks there's nothing to me but fluff - all without surrendering to the undeniable attraction to Mateo that makes me catch my breath every time him looks my way.

Contains mature themes.

Great end to the trilogy!

I’m so glad I finally listened to this trilogy - especially because this third book doesn’t seem to be available anywhere on ebook, just here on Audible (and it’s about to be pulled from the Plus catalogue)!

The Sweet triplets and their Salvation Brewery was such a great ride - I definitely recommend everyone read (listen) this series!! Charlotte North does a brilliant job on the entire trilogy, and as always, Avery Flynn has written RomCom brilliance with plenty of drama and the perfect amount of steam.

Book three is about Olivia, the third Sweet triplet who isn’t present in the first two books, other than quick mentions. She’s off living her best life and wrapping up her brilliant post-modeling career job, before moving home to join her sisters at the brewery. When she returns, she immediately comes across the ex she never wanted to see again, her high school bff’s brother, Mateo. They had a secret fling all through school, kept it up before every deployment, until one terrible fight right before he was terribly injured and his entire unit was killed. They hadn’t been in touch since that fateful night, but the minute she returns to town he’s the first person she comes across… and he wants nothing to do with her still.

While the brewery is still working through so many issues with the town and somebody out for them, Mateo as town sheriff seems like he has no choice but to interact with Olivia and her sisters, and especially since his sister is her bff - which unfortunately means a lot of close proximity.

A fun read, and anyone else who loves Avery Flynn as much as I do will not be able to pass this trilogy by!

The reader is OUTSTANDING!

She brought this book to life with her reading! Wow! She had to have read this book 3 or 4 times before recording. I'm not even finished listening yet. I've already listened to books 1 and 2. I had to comment while it was on my mind.

The Model and the Marine

Cute story, loved the whole series. This one has a modern day beauty and the best feel with a twist bc the beauty isn’t so sweet.

Loved it

Short but packed full of deliciousness. Highly recommend the whole series. The narrators were fantastic and the story was fun but still managed to be complex in a small package. Loved it.

Serious issues, dumbed down follow through

I find Avery Flynn's books wildly uneven, some are really good, with so much heart and wisdom, often helped by brilliant narrators like the late Brian Pallino, and this series unexpectedly really excellent Charlotte North. She brought the characters to life, and did a darned fine job of it, which, in combination with more interesting and less toxic characters than the other books in the series, made this one my favorite. Her nuance, fluctuation in pacing and stress as well as comedic timing, made this above the cut in standard narration, and I look forward to hearing more stories read by her.

However, these books are more like sketches, outlines written by an obviously talented author who doesn't seem to want to put the effort in for these. Like middle children, this series got a lack of attention and guidance, and were left flailing to figure it out best they could on their own. Serious topics like revenge porn were just glossed over with a two-minute insta-solution to issues a lot of the readers struggle with, in a fairy-tale erasure that doesn't offer any real closure for readers invested in the story.

Also, I have a hard time with MLCs who are a~~holes until they are converted by true love, as though that erases all the bad they've done to so many. Matteo wasn't anywhere near as bad as the extremely chauvinistic good old boy Logan in book 1, who's actions and personality are just unforgivable, but honestly, accepting the mayor's bs as run-of-the-mill behavior... well, it's unpalatable, to say the least. The story of these two isn't the only story in Salvation. Having such a bully in a position of power, accepting it and helping to keep the pattern, is hard to take.

Again, Charlotte North is the true hero of this story. Olivia comes in at a distant second.

Vulgarity

The wrapped up the trilogy but definitely wasn’t my favorite of the storylines.
If you like the first books but wanted dirtier…done! Enjoy the short, sweet wrap up.
