One of Amazon's Best Romances of December · A December LibraryReads Pick · One of Buzzfeed's Romance Novels to Knock Your Socks Off

An unlucky witch and her know-it-all nemesis must team up in the first of a new, spicy romantic comedy series from
USA Today bestselling author Avery Flynn.

Could it possibly get any worse than having absolutely no magical abilities when you’re a member of the most powerful family of witches ever? It used to be that I’d say no, but then I keep getting set up on dates with Gil Connolly whose hotness is only matched by his ego. Seriously. I can’t stand him. Even if I also can’t stop thinking about him (specifically kissing him) but we’re going to pretend I never told you that part.

So yeah, my life isn’t the greatest right now, but then it goes straight to the absolute worst hell when I accidentally make my sister’s spell glitch and curse my whole family. And the only person who can help non-magical me break the spell? You guessed it. Gil the super hot jerk.

Now we have to work together to save my family and outmaneuver some evil-minded nefarious forces bent on world domination. Oh yeah, and we have to do all that while fighting against the attraction building between us because I may not be magical, but what’s happening between Gil and I sure feels like it.

Editorial Review

A family secret, a curse, and a heist
Over the years I’ve devoured several of Avery Flynn’s steamy, fierce, and downright AWK-WEIRD novels. When I noticed that Flynn was working on a new series, that was all I needed to know to get on board. Witcha Gonna Do? is Book 1 of the Witchington series, and brings together Tilda, a witch without powers, and Gil, a double agent trying to save his parents from exile. This dual POV, enemies-to-lovers story is full of loveable characters that I am already invested in, while cheering for Gil and Tilda to have their happy ending. Witcha Gonna Do? has witches and warlocks and magic gone awry. This quick listen also includes magical surprises, steamy scenes, and an amazing setup for the rest of the series. —Patty K.C., Audible Editor

Fun book

Great start to a new series and the narration was wonderful! I can’t wait to see what is in store for the sisters and the rooster! Some have said the narration was off hun to soft her to loud but it didn’t sound that way to me. The story line was enjoyable, the friendships wonderful I will definitely be back for the rest of the series.

So much fun!

Oh my goodness, this book is so much fun! I thoroughly enjoyed the character development, plot, and pretty much everything about the book. The narrators did a fantastic job too! I can't wait to listen to more books in this series!

Great start to a new series!

Really excellent world building, can't wait for what's next in the series. Lots of potential avenues for next steps, and I can't wait to read all of them!

One thing in particular I think Avery did well was present an average-to-fat bodied heroine whose love interest didn't fetishize her size OR have to convince themselves that they could love her despite her size. Tilda talks some about how she recognizes her body is different than what is considered "conventionally" attractive, but it's not the bulk of her emotional baggage to work through. Gil doesn't pro/con her appearance when considering his attraction or lean into the "more cushion for the pushing"/I've always "preferred" bigger women schtick, or have to have an awakening that average-or-fat bodies folks deserve to be loved as they are too.

It's lovely to have this kind of normalization of loving every body in media.

Basically exactly what you would expect with a title like that

3.5 stars. “Witcha Gonna Do” is exactly what you would expect from a book with this type of dad pun title. It’s quirky, cute, and witchy. This was one of my most anticipated Witchy Rom Coms for the fall, but I was a bit disappointed that it really didn’t give me any fall vibes aside from just the fact that they’re witches. I was hoping there would be a bit of Halloween stuff, but that’s a minor detail.

Overall, I really enjoyed experiencing Tilda and Gill’s relationship unfold. There definitely was good chemistry from the beginning and the spice is well written. It was a great audio book to have on while cleaning my house, but not really one I found myself itching to continue. The plot just left something to be desired for me. Also, there’s a grumpy unicorn shifter and I wish there was a little more from him.

Brief Synopsis:
Tilda was born without any powers to the most powerful family in the Witchingdom. She’s ready for some romance so she asks the match maker to set her up. Multiple times. And each time the same insufferable man shows up.

Gill’s family has been captured by a powerful opposing witch society. In order to save his family, he has to spy on Tilda and her family, but she may be more than he bargained for.

Tropes:
✔️grumpy X sunshine
✔️enemies to lovers
✔️midsize FMC
✔️quirky FMC
✔️witchy
✔️🌶️🌶️🌶️
✔️band of misfits
✔️magical heists
✔️self-actualization
✔️a very cute happily ever after

Overall, this isn’t my least favorite witchy book I’ve read, but it’s not in my top 3. But it does extra points for having my favorite cover and the paperback floppiness has a fantastic feel in your hands👌 I think these 2 things are what pumped me up the most about buying and reading this one. In audiobook form, I think the narrators did a great job with what they were given.

Don’t buy!

I really wanted to like this book, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. I’m only half way through and I don’t think I can finish, which is a first! I’ve listened to 30 audio books this year, and this is by far the worst.

The narrator’s voices are cringey, annoying, and distracting to try and get past their cadence.

The plot seems okay, character building was a little lackluster.

I wish I would have read all the other reviews - I would have saved myself a credit!
