Publisher's summary

After enduring a childhood of horrific abuse and crushing poverty, Tucker seeks refuge in her rural Tennessee home. The three grandchildren she is raising are her only connection to the outside, and her demeanor is purposefully rough. But her world is turned upside down when a new neighbor, Ella, moves into the old McDaniel place next door.

Ella seeks solace on the same country road after overcoming cancer. Although she is Tucker's peer agewise, she was raised in a world of privilege and opportunity. Still, Ella shares a tragic part of Tucker's experience - she also suffered abuse. Hers was at the hands of her husband, a prominent judge in the community and Tucker's sworn enemy.

When Tucker finds herself at risk of losing custody of her beloved youngest grandchild and worse, the child's mother is murdered, she draws support and strength from her new friendship with Ella. These two women from disparate backgrounds form a fierce bond, and they weather life's storms together with faith, love, and determination.

Great and touching

This book was well written and worth sharing. The narrator was perfect. Almost like listening to a story from my own grandmother.

Loved this Book!

Any additional comments?

It's been a while since I've listened to a book I've enjoyed as much as this one. There appears to be four audio books in the series and someone said there's a fifth book out, but not yet in audio form. I laughed, and cried while listening to this book. I was told that a good story will make you think, make you laugh and make you cry. This book did it for me!

Free book = and now I am hooked on series

(I received this book for free thru my Amazon Prime membership)

I am so glad I did. I have purchased the rest in the series.

I fell in love with David Johnson's details of the poor hard-working white American, as my family can relate.

Tucker is such a hard working woman - who we all, in one way or another, can relate too. We protect our loved ones and we "hustle" to feed our families.

Laural Merlington did a great job on the narration as she changed her voices for each character - I appreciate this when it is done in Audiobooks.

I cannot wait to continue listening on to the next four books in this 5 part series.

Fantastic!!!!

What did you love best about Tucker's Way?

I enjoyed that the author presented Tucker as a self-made woman who directed her own life and its outcome. She relied on herself and her own determination.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Tucker was my favorite character. Her strength and self-growth in an environment of little knowledge was impressive.

Which scene was your favorite?

My favorite scene was when Tucker sent April to to stay with Ella. I think her selflessness not only grew but was captured and described perfectly.

Excellent story. Very engaging from the start. Yes, there are some parts that are disturbing to imagine, but I highly recommend it.
