Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Deanna Raybourn returns with a brand-new novella, starring her beloved heroine, the intrepid Lady Julia Grey.

To mark the passing of another decade, the esteemed - and eccentric - March family have assembled at Bellmont Abbey to perform the Twelfth Night Revels for their sleepy English village. But before Lady Julia and her handsome, sleuthing husband, Nicolas Brisbane, can take to the stage, a ruckus in the stable yard demands their attention. An abandoned infant is found nestled in the steel helm of St. George. What's more, their only lead is the local legend of a haunted cottage and its ghastly inhabitant - who seems to have returned. Once again, Lady Julia and Nicholas take up the challenge to investigate, and when the source of the mystery is revealed, they'll be faced with an impossible choice - one that will alter the course of their lives... forever. Don't miss a single tale in the Lady Julia Grey series - or Deanna Raybourn's latest novel, City of Jasmine.

Continued Holiday Merriment

Lady Julia and Nicholas are still at the Abbey for the March holiday revels, where he gets drafted to play St George as the newest member of the family.
An abandoned baby and local haunting bring old and new family into their lives.
I really enjoy these novellas in this series.
Archer does a decent job of narration.

Thoroughly Enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this story. The details, the character development, the storyline, the suspense, the historical accuracy... truly a great book along with the rest of the Lady Julia Grey series! Also, the narrator is absolutely fantastic! Ellen Archer is a gifted storyteller with amazingly expressive vocal abilities. One of the best!

Short but good

Way too short but packed with interesting developments.

This should have been combined with the previous novella. Both are too short to command separate prices. That being said, I enjoyed this a great deal. I liked the inclusion of the niece and nephew. A person from the past makes an appearance. And Brisbane plays St George!

I love listening to this narrator. Great job!

Too short

Enjoyed Lady Julia and family as always. Story way too short. Perhaps the 3 novellas should have been combined to make one complete book.

A good Novella, Horrible narration.

As usual, The March family Twelth Night celebration is chaos personified.
A possible witch sighting, family and staff antics, and a play to perform.

What could possibly go wrong?

I have listened to the entire series this weekend.
The narration was OK.
ELLEN ARCHER'S --- Portia's Voice was excessively high pitched, irritating, annoying, grating, demeaning to give any audible character such a voice, and distracting from a good storyline!!!

ELLEN ARCHER RUINED Listening to the storyline since book One, EVERYTIME Portia screeched in all the books.

One voice done so horribly can ruin listening to an entire series. Hence, I rate narration 1-2 stars ---for ruining a great character with such an awful voice. 😖 😱 😨

For this reason I would say read the books instead.

The rest of the voices are done well, but with some odd pronunciations of words.

I enjoyed this series and it too bad there are no more books to this series.
One more novella and then nothing.

Thank goodness, she started the Veronica Speedwell Series which is an utter delight.

Sum up: liked storyline for all books
HATED THE AWFUL NARRATION OF PORTIA'S VOICE!!! 😖 BY ELLEN ARCHER. utterly distracting.

Love for sure

I have not found another author that I put up with my favorite the great Elisabeth Peters until now. Deanna Raybourn has such a gift for putting depth and feeling into her characters that they become friends to you. Ellen Archer is also one of my favorite narrators. Her talent makes the the different men and women she plays come to life. So many a good book is ruined in the telling by a poor choice of narrator, not so in this wonderful series! I love a good historical mystery with a splash of romance and also humour and these books deliver! Thank you Dianna and Ellen ! I hope for more information full size novels to come!

A story to accompany the previous novella

Setting: Sussex January 1890
Genre: Mystery
This novel is in the same visit to Sussex as in the novella Silent Night. A newborn baby is found in the stable at Belmont Abbey, and it is up to Lady Julia to learn who abandoned him and why. There are some accompanying small mysteries: a ghost; missing jewelry; and the reason the Earl March is so depressed. Despite these facets, the novella is largely uneventful. However, the main event is important in the Lady Julia Grey story arc.
Aside from the stingy length and the dearth of action, there are no inconsistencies in established characters, and new ones are well done. The narration continues fine in this book, and it is appreciated that the same narrator has been used throughout the series.
