About this listen

“Much like fine wine, battle-hardened assassins grow better with age.”—#1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Gardner

Four women assassins, senior in status—and in age—sharpen their knives for another bloody good adventure in this riotous follow-up to the New York Times bestselling sensation Killers of a Certain Age.

After more than a year of laying low, Billie, Helen, Mary Alice, and Natalie are called back into action. They have enjoyed their time off, but the lack of excitement is starting to chafe: a professional killer can only take so many watercolor classes and yoga sessions without itching to strangle someone...literally. When they receive a summons from the head of the elite assassin organization known as the Museum, they are ready tackle the greatest challenge of their careers.

Someone on the inside has compiled a list of important kills committed by Museum agents, connected to a single, shadowy figure, an Eastern European gangster with an iron fist, some serious criminal ambition, and a tendency to kill first and ask questions later. This new nemesis is murdering agents who got in the way of their power hungry plans and the aging quartet of killers is next.

Together the foursome embark on a wild ride across the globe on the double mission of rooting out the Museum’s mole and hunting down the gangster who seems to know their next move before they make it. Their enemy is unlike any they’ve faced before, and it will take all their killer experience to get out of this mission alive.

It was another fun ride.

Killers of a certain age and kills well with others. We're 2 great adventures, a lot like golden girls who were once assassins. i think a show should be in the works for these characters.

Read it. After reading Killers of a Certain Age, of course. Great narrator. Also lots of info about unusual subjects.

Satisfying

I could hardly wait to download this sequel by Deanna Raybourn that I preordered after reading KOACA. It was a joy to revisit the characters and see them successfully complete missions and reunite with each other as they struggle with retirement, aging, love, relationships, and just to survive. Billie is my favorite grey heroine, both morally and physically. My question is, will they *really* retire? If you liked the movie "Red" you will enjoy this series about The Sphinxes. Just enough humor and emotion with the action and occasional gore.

Enjoyable but oddly ageist

Wonderful reader performance, enjoyable sequel featuring the adventures of four 62 year old hit women.
The only sour notes are the odd ageism against anyone older than the heroines of the book. No one should underestimate sixty-somethings due to their age yet there are plenty of phrases dripping with contempt for octogenarians. Where’s the self awareness?

LOVE THIS SERIES!!!!

GenX Killers, Nobody does it better. Some people just need killed, and that is when Mary Alice, Natalie, Helen and Billie step in. This adventure is five years post book one, the gals have survived and settled back into their life, with Billie on a Greek Island with Travaner. But, Naomi at the Museum has a problem, and she needs someone to solve it, so she turns to the girls who know how to get things done. These are the FAFO posse, and they are brilliant. Things might not be as high or tight as when they were young assassins, but these woman are like a great wine because they only got better with age. The book gives both current day and 1980’s time lines, that do interconnect.
The narrators Jane Oppenheimer, and Christina Delaney are fabulous and in the split time lines the voices are very similar, but have a nuanced younger tone. Bravo for a great narration.
