Publisher's summary

The fatal night

On a warm Florida evening, Karen Gregory saw a familiar face at her door. What the beautiful young woman could not know was that she was staring into the eyes of her killer - a savage monster who would rape her, stab her to death, and leave her battered body on the floor outside the bedroom.

The desperate search

Detectives frantically sifting through the evidence were tormented by one disturbing question after another: What did the strangely worded note from a friend mean? Why was the house so orderly, when it had been the scene of a frenzied struggle? Why were the bloody footprints on the carpet barefoot? What happened to the white lace teddy missing from Karen's drawer?

The shattering discovery

Police detective Larry Tosi stayed up nights watching the video of the grisly crime scene, looking for the one telltale clue that would lead him to Karen's killer - until slowly, and with growing horror, he realized that the maniac he was hunting was someone he knew...someone he called a friend.

True depiction of the judicial system

Well written but slow at times. Show what the families involved with a murder go thru.

Great look into a killer and his victim. The crime doesn't just involve the two. Being a firefighter, he brought a lot of good people to support him, but the victim had loved ones who were suffering too. He was supposed to save lives not end them. Sociopaths are hard to understand!

Sad story... great book...

This story was well written and had great narration. Some books like this go into too much detail that the story and the story of the person lost get "lost".

boring

The author tried to make this interesting but it isnt. A lot of words strung together but it did try to explain what happened about the murder. I was left wondering about incompetent prosecutors and police who will not consider anything but their own view.

A very unbiased narrative of a true storry

I enjoyed the book. it was an unbiased narrative of a the actual events. it really makes you wonder what kind of work police do and you hope if you ever need one they do a thorough job in your case. I gave the performance a 5 but the first few chapters it was a 4. he grew on me.

Superb!

Loved the narrator. The story was gripping. Was hoping at the end that DNA evidence would have been found to remove all doubt. Great book!

Loved this one, especially the courtroom coverage felt like I was there at the trial.

Meh

The whole thing is pretty plodding. And FYI, the villain died relatively young in prison.

Good narration and great (sad) story

The author is unbiased and did a detailed account of the event including the trial.

The book is a bit long. But I like all the details.
