About this listen

Dorothy Gilman, famous for her best-selling Mrs. Pollifax mysteries, crafts a novel pulsing with international intrigue and psychological drama. Uncertain Voyage is certain to hold you spellbound with its tale of a timid young American woman who finds herself in situations that would test anyone’s courage.

Melissa Aubrey is touring Europe alone as part of her quest to establish her self-reliance. Still recovering from a nervous breakdown brought on by a disastrous marriage, Melissa is fragile, to say the least. When one of her fellow travelers makes an urgent plea that she deliver a small package to an address in Majorca, Melissa is thrown into a dizzying whirlwind of romance, mystery, and danger.

Narrator Alyssa Bresnahan’s elegant, expressive voice evokes the artistic young heroine’s changing states of mind. With her performance you will experience the thrill of adventure in foreign lands right alongside Melissa.

This book was very introspective to the point that it bogged down the story. I usually enjoy Dorothy Gilman’s stand-alone novels more than her Mrs. P novels because they’re deeper explorations but this was deeper than I found enjoyable.

Not her best

I also really enjoyed the other books by this author but the main character in this one was a bummer. Plus the ending itself was sub par. Oh well.

Disappointed

Not a typical espionage thriller, but a good, introspective book. not action packed. This sounds more negative than i intended, I enjoyed it a lot .

This one is apply named. Quite a trip that reminded me of the best parts of myself and those around me. Slow to start for a good reason.

seemed repetitious in the beginning, but finally I saw the light, just like Michelle. Her strength was uplifting.

I enjoyed this book. I really liked the main character and admired her courage. After reading some of the other reviews that stated disappointment with the ending, I was surprised at how satisfying it actually was. Perhaps they were hoping for blood and gore.

Very Satisfying Ending

Dorothy Gilman is (was) such a talented writer. This book is incredibly well written. If you are into psychology and self analysis, this is an amazing psychological suspense novel.

Mind Blown!

I hate listening to long sections of over thinking and many trials only to have an abrupt ending

I have enjoyed all of Gilman ‘s books so far, but this one was dreary and unsatisfying. So much self analysis…
