Stumbling through the terrifying wrought iron gates of Auschwitz, Jewish author Etty Weil longs for her apartment overlooking the Seine, where she used to laugh with friends, her shelves full of records and her beloved typewriter by the wide window. Now she looks on in horror as a young girl, Danielle, is ruthlessly torn apart from her sobbing mother. Etty has always longed for the warm embrace of family: and trapped inside the maze of barbed wire, she takes fourteen-year-old Danielle under her wing and soon comes to cherish her like a sister.

This is a new author for me. Her writing skills are interesting and appealing. The narrator does a great job.

When Lucy Bagshaw's life in Boston falls apart thanks to a scathing editorial written by her famous artist mother, she accepts her half-sister Juliet's invitation to stay with her in Hartley-by-the-Sea, a charming seaside village in Northern England. Complex and Delightful
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I love how the characters develop throughout the story and all the pieces twist into an intricate pattern. The ending was absolutely delightful!

Brilliant story
I have always longed for The Maze in the Heart of the Castle as an Audiobook and loved how I do the same as the heroine, by buying copies when found. Loved ❤️❤️❤️

Good story, annoying reading.
A good page turner, as I'd expect from Dorothy Gilman. Ms. Phimister's reading, however left much to be desired. Some of the vocal chaticterizations were annoying, 'though not as bad as her reading of Mrs. Polyfax.

Charming
Odd to describe a murder mystery as charming but this one was. I thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend it. The narrator did have a bit of an older voice for a person meant to be in their early twenties, but in the end it fit the story and didn’t take me out of it.

I loved the characters! This story and the characters are so well written. I'm always so sad when a Dorothy Gilman book ends. I savored every word!

So fun to listen to
I read Tightrope Walker many years ago and don’t remember liking it much. There is a touch of “seeing” and “hearing” things that aren’t there, and maybe that’s why. I was never much for clairvoyance or paranormal. However, listening to it read by this fine narrator minimized the memory I had of it. I connected with Amelia Jones and love how she became a strong woman through the things she endured. It is an exciting murder mystery, and every time I thought we were at the climax, there was another plot shift. Dorothy Gillman tidies up everything at the end, which I appreciated. So often mystery writers seem to rush to the end as if to say, “Ok, all done!” This time around, I wholeheartedly recommend Tightrope Walker to mystery lovers.

Love Mrs Pollifax so tried this book by Dorothy Gilman!
This was a good listen - a little more drama than a cozy mystery. (Not as relaxing as a cozy usually is). Some charming characters, well written & narrated overall.
