The end and a new beginning!

Excellent book series! Check this series out if your into post apocalyptic stories. The ending could actually lead to a book 4 if the author was inclined to do so. However you are not left hanging.

Great post apocalyptic read!!!

Loved this trilogy.
I still love the narrator in the first book but that is probably a personal preference.
For the third I was a tiny bit disappointed how some things were talked over rather quickly in order to achieve resolution but overall an amazing series!
The narrator in the 2nd and 3rd feels a little too monotone to me.

Thrilling end to the series

This was an excellent conclusion to a unique series. This post-apocalyptic story has battles for survival, romance, loss, racism, and shows both the worst and the best of society. Isabella and Malcolm are great characters and you really want them to have a HEA. The story illustrates well how fear of the unknown and blindly believing what you are told has the potential to cause great harm. It also shows the importance of standing up for the downtrodden and being willing to fight for what is right. The narrator once again did a great job, giving individual voices to the characters, that were consistent from one book to the next. This is an original, thrilling conclusion to the series.

Very cool and interesting!

This is one of the best stories of the year. It is interesting to learn how the people survive after a war. The community went through a revolution in order to change. I liked the narration kept me engaged. The author is very talented. So pick up this book, you won't regret it!

Good Read

Under the Mountain (Into the Outside #3) was a good read by Lynda Engler. Isabella is captured and imprisoned alongside her new family. They face certain death along with the other captive mutants. Luke and some other rebels convince some of the army to save the mutants. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Great Post-apocalyptic Trilogy!

Into the Outside is a great post-apocalyptic trilogy! It starts out with Isabella and her family living in an underground shelter after a nuclear war destroys most of humanity. Some of the humans who survived without shelters we're mutated from the fallout. The mutants mature much faster and have a much shorter life span. Isabella gets curious about a family of mutants living outside of her shelter and sneaks out to meet them. After she realizes that they aren't much different from her, she decides to leave her shelter and explore the world outside. She eventually decides to marry Malcolm, her new mutant friend. Isabella and her new family go off to look for a scientist who could possibly make a vaccine to protect humanity from the harmful radiation. They also try to warn other mutant settlements of the military using mutants to clean up heavy radiation zones, riding humanity of two problems at once. In the final book, Isabella tries to free her family from the military while Dr Rosario works on his vaccine. Isabella's brother, Luke, works with a small group of rebels who don't agree with their government's treatment of the mutants. Their hope is to free all of the mutants. Great narration by Ann Bumbak. I only gave 4 stars on the narration because I can hear a bit of background noise in the recording. It was a little distracting at times.

Conflict and Resolution in Post Apocalypse America

This final story of the Into the Outside trilogy is, without a doubt, the best of the series, and that's saying A LOT because I've thoroughly enjoyed every book. A little bit political thriller, a little bit love story, a serious look at not only life after the apocalypse but also the power and perils of big government, it's the kind of book that will keep you up reading long into the night.
I loved Isabella and Malcolm's unwavering love and Luke's youthful exuberance and I enjoyed the look at the extremes of what life after the apocalypse could be like.
Under the Mountain is dark and heavy in some places but it's overall message is affirmative and in the end we are reassured that for Isabella and her family, and for the United States itself, the post-apocalyptic universe is unfolding pretty much as it should.
