About this listen

What does the perfect family have to fear most? The perfect stranger.

From the outside, Frank and Grace seem to have the perfect family. He’s a loving husband, she’s a devoted wife, and together they have two happy children. But appearances can be deceiving. A strange series of misfortunes has left them reeling: an unexplained break-in, a catastrophic handgun accident, and a bizarre poisoning that’s left Grace feeling especially unnerved. Packing up their RV for a move across the country, they’re ready for a fresh start, expecting to leave all their problems safely behind.

Then one night on the road to their new home, the figure of a young woman emerges from the darkness, causing them to swerve off the road. The injured stranger says her name is Mara. Miles from help, Frank does what any decent man would do. He invites Mara to stay. But Mara is hiding a secret. And she is not the only one.

Was it all just another inexplicable accident? Or has Frank opened the door to an escalating family nightmare designed to tear his perfect world apart?

story moves at a good pace.

At first it seemed like a re-make of "Fatal Attraction", but it becomes it's own story.

A little slow in the beginning

The story seemed slow in the beginning. I had to go back and listen to the first few chapters again. Eventually it picked up and was a decent book. The author has yet to fail with his twists and turns and OMG moments. Only thing I didn’t like was the father’s actions in end, it was almost like ok let’s finish this story already.

Victims' Agony

Thank you, Shelly, you are most kind.

Welcome back Mr Daniels! You are still tops for a great narration!! This was a 2 for 1 credit so l got a 2 fave narrator deal.
l purchased this book as Mr Daniels had returned as both author and great narrator to Audible, l own most of his narrated books, and all books he narrates from my fave author Robert Crais. Do not miss the Watchman.

The publisher summery is spot on and no need to add to it. My title says it all! If you like a journey surrounding family characters, then this book is for you. The story has some nail biting scenes and l do use 1.2 speed to match the author's intent.
Were my comments of help?

Characters were too much of a problem for me.

Perhaps the problem was that there were too many characters. I just couldn't connect with any of them. The daughter, in particular, was especially irritating. Irritating characters are fine if you have some intriguing voices to interact, counter them and balance them out- but there were none. It's a shame because I was initially intrigued by the premise.

Ah well. I'll look for something else for now.

Predictable

Obviously written by a man
Very predictable
A weak and wimpy man combined with
a stupid woman with
modern kids smarter than their parents.
A spin off of Fatal Attraction.
