Publisher's summary

“A smart, taut, mind-blowing thriller full of heartbreak and betrayal that moves along at breakneck speed. Readers will be obsessed!”—Mary Kubica, New York Times bestselling author of Just The Nicest Couple

Everybody lies. Even the ones you think you know best of all . . .

Olivia Bender designs exquisite home interiors that satisfy the most demanding clients. But her own deepest desire can’t be fulfilled by marble counters or the perfect rug. She desperately wants to be a mother. Fertility treatments and IVF keep failing. And just when she feels she’s at her lowest point, the police deliver shocking news to Olivia and her husband, Park.

DNA results show that the prime suspect in a murder investigation is Park’s son. Olivia is relieved, knowing this is a mistake. Despite their desire, the Benders don’t have any children. Then comes the confession. Many years ago, Park donated sperm to a clinic. He has no idea how many times it was sold—or how many children he has sired.

As the murder investigation goes deeper, more terrible truths come to light. With every revelation, Olivia must face the unthinkable. The man she married has fathered a killer. But can she hold that against him when she keeps such dark secrets of her own?

This twisting, emotionally layered thriller explores the lies we tell to keep a marriage together—or break each other apart . . .

Kept my interest

Despite the main characters being unlikable for the most part - I kept listening because its an interesting subject- I won't spoil for anyone. I think infertility was portrayed realistically and sympathetically for those who haven't gone through it. Overall it was a bit of a far fetched plot but it was interesting and it was well performed
I think it was worth a listen

Engaging thriller/Excellent narration

Engaging from the beginning all the way to the end. After all, it’s J.T. Ellison. Oh, not yo forget the gifted Julia Whelan who put voice to the story and made it vividly alive.

Hard start

I had a really hard time starting the book. I did pick up in the middle and was very interesting at the end, but it is hard to get through the first part. The ending was a shock and I’m not sure if I agree with how it ended. I feel sorry for all the women who deal with infertility

Good Story…Wasn’t Gone Guess That

It’s One of Us
By. J. T. Ellison
Man. The twists and turns. I didn’t see the mind blowing reveals. To me. There are three. A man and wife are having trouble conceiving a child. On a particularly tough morning, a knock at the door cracks the very foundation of their lives clean open and they are both swallowed. Can they make it out the other side? A young girl is in desperate need of a father. Her mother used a sperm bank and refuses to give any information for the daughter. So the young lady goes to extreme measures to get what she wants…consequences be dammed. She shakes her whole world up…but is it good or bad? This ensemble cast book definitely took me on the loop-de-loop!!! I just knew I knew what I knew. And damnit I was wrong. But it was a great book. Definitely recommend. The thrill starts on page one and goes right into the epilogue. Check it out.
