A thrilling piece of undiscovered history, this is the true account of a young Jewish woman who survived World War II in Berlin.
In 1941, Marie Jalowicz Simon, a 19-year-old Berliner, made an extraordinary decision. All around her, Jews were being rounded up for deportation, forced labor, and extermination. Marie took off her yellow star, turned her back on the Jewish community, and vanished into the city.
In the years that followed, Marie lived under an assumed identity, forced to accept shelter wherever she found it. Always on the run, never certain whom she could trust, Marie moved between almost 20 different safe houses, living with foreign workers, staunch communists, and even committed Nazis. Only her quick-witted determination and the most hair-raising strokes of luck allowed her to survive.

Is there anything you would change about this book?
I don't think it could be changed, nor should it. This was an historical narrative of what happened in her life. Was Underground in Berlin worth the listening time?
Yes, if just to learn from the historical narrative. It was fascinating to here what Marie was like and what those around her were like in her eyes.Any additional comments?
I would not, personally, have wanted to know her because she judged almost everyone she met and knew so harshly both in their character and appearance. This part of the story grew old for me.Interesting Narrative

Not quite what I expected

I found it so interesting that I didn’t want the story to end. I enjoyed the honesty of her thoughts; found her style immensely satisfying. Audible is definitely the right medium to hear the author’s words. Definitely unique; unusually NOT about the death camps; intricate details of daily life during another type of imprisonment: Nazi Germany.
Compelling and fiercely candid!

He did his Mother's story a disservice. All the details he allowed in the book might have been meaningful to him, but I can't finish it because of them.
Why do we have to know EVERY detail?!!
