About this listen

Five years ago, Embry Jacobs ran....

She ran from a past that still hasn't let her go, but her dream of becoming a lawyer is stronger than her fear of confronting that past. Embry's sole focus is to get through law school, with the help of her best friend, Morgan, and make something of the broken girl she became. Not thinking about falling in love, being in a relationship or even entertaining the idea of romance, Embry is moving forward one day at a time.

Luke Brody is charming and sexy, and has a past of his own. He wants nothing more than to put his demons to rest and move on with his life. But, when Embry enters the picture, is he destined to repeat those same mistakes?

Blindsided by their instant attraction, neither Luke nor Embry are prepared for the feelings they're developing. But will it all be for nothing?

Will they let their pasts destroy them, or will they risk everything to fight for their relationship when it all comes undone?

weak heroine

felt like one sided love ..... heroine wasn't as devoted as hero .... she seemed weak immature and not as "in love" as hero was ..... story would have been sooooo much better if heroine would have been more into relationship .... personally I felt hero got cheated and deserved a better heroine

Overly dramatic and underwhelming

Would you try another book from R.E. Hunter and/or Stephanie Rose and Jonathan Meza ?

I really felt this book had potential just under the surface, but too many things interfered with where the story could go. Has the Author made a different choice in the stories direction I feel like I could have enjoyed it more. I would like to read a different series or standalone by the author. The narration was excellent and was what helped me through the story more than anything.

Would you ever listen to anything by R.E. Hunter again?

I would if it was a different book without these characters.

What about Stephanie Rose and Jonathan Meza ’s performance did you like?

They did a great job with pacing and vocals, but the story was a slow paced story and is what pulled away from their performances.

Could you see Undone being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

No. This book had a lot of over elaborating of things, most that are un necessary of being described in such detail. The characters were hard to connect with, and I really tried to, believe me. Embry wasn't very likable. It felt like she took things that most people would deal with and move on and made them into these big elaborate productions of drama, and pity parties. Luke was sweet, but I couldn't relate to how he fell so hard for Embry when she was always so back and forth with him, and didn't really display anything that would seem appealing to him from my perspective.

Any additional comments?

I struggled to get through this book. In all honesty it would have been a DNF, but I felt that the author/narrators deserved to have me see it through, as I obtained my copy free from audiobook boom for an unbiased review. So here is what I did like, I liked the tenderness of the Hero with how he handles the heroine. I liked the sub characters and how they handle the heroine, and I like that the heroine has a drive to succeed. Here is what I disliked, the blurb did not give any hint this would end up being a teacher/student genre romance, while I have read them before I am not particularly a fan of them and I would not had opted to review this book had I known that because I am not the audience for it. In the future I hope this author finds a way to disclose genres even sub ones so that the appropriate audience is targeted. Secondly the obstacles in the story, while not nice, didn't feel like they warranted the reaction the heroine had. When I found out what sent her fleeing her past, while I new it was a bad situation, it still made me think "huh, she hid and ran and kept it secret for THAT?" It felt like she blew it way out of proportion and she could have found a different solution. Third the book was left on a cliff hanger. While I don't normally take issue with that, I really felt that had the author cut out the over dramatics, the over elaboration of things, and redirected the plot outline away from things that were sub plots that didn't drive the story forward (or followed through with some more) the two books could have been pulled all together into the various angsty, sexy, romance driven direction this story had the potential to reach. For me it could have been so much more, but just felt mediocre and flat. I really feel the author has fantastic writing skills but this story just wasn't for me.

Love 'Southern Sexy' and his 'Dirty South'

Embry is picking up the pieces from her past and is finally living the life she is meant to live. She is focusing on school to become a successful Lawyer. She isn't interested in dating but when she meets sexy southern gentleman, Luke Brody, she throws all her rules out the window. They are a perfect match and it ignites a passion they both hadn't seen coming. That is until secrets threaten to destroy what they have started to build together. The narrators did a wonderful job setting the scenes and helping me to get lost in the story. The ending was emotional and left me wanting more. I can't 't wait to see what happens next for Embry and Morgan.

When love doesn't go your way

I was very engaged from the beginning of this book with the prologue and the brilliant narration, and I wondered if it would end up in my favorites pile and was really exited! It didn't quite go there, but I enjoyed Undone a lot.

Embrey is a law student and on her first semester. She meets Luke and they both fall in love very fast. As the story comes along, Embrey finds out that Luke has secrets (which I'm NOT going to reveal) and as these secrets gets revealed, she turns away from him. At least at first! Luke doesn't give up on her and tries to solve their issues in a much more mature way. Until next secret is discovered...

The writing is great, humorous and very captivating, even that I had some issues with the story. It's like Embrey does things we all wish we would have done, if we were in the same situation, but love doesn't actually work that way in real life.

First of all - Embrey has a secret herself she doesn't tell Luke about, so why does she have such a hard time with Luke's secrets? I found her mature in some points and immature in other points. I didn't get why she didn't want to talk the issues out with Luke. As I understand both sides of the story, I shook my head several times at Embrey.

I found the characters to be very likeable - Embrey who is strong and ambitious, Luke who is hot, sweet and loves Embrey to death, Jeremy (the manwhore!) who is drop-dead funny and Morgan who is Embreys best friend.

The story could have been shorter and it was sometimes dragging out with unnecessary stuff. I was thrown of the chair when there were 2 sexscenes in ONE chapter. Here I had to skip the rest of the session. Move on!

We only get the story from Embrey's POV and I would really have loved that it was told from both Embrey's and Luke's POV's. That would have made the story so much better and more suspenseful.

The narrators did an outstanding job. I was impressed with Stephanie Rose with her girly voice, how she could do such a sexy, mature male voice as well. You can't hear that it's her narrating Luke. Overall, she's perfect with all the different voices and she's really in my favorite narrator pile now.

Jonathan Meza was also very captivating to listen to and he only narrated the epilogue from Luke's POV, with the cliffhanger. I actually listened to the epilogue twice and his voice is strong and clear and I really wish, that he would have narrated more of the story.

I do really think this book is worth a credit, because of the brilliant writing and a captivating, funny story, despite some minor flaws. I'll defenitely be listening to the second book, to get some closure!

Love Luke Brody!

I really enjoyed this story. Luke & Embry are such a cute couple and Morgan & Jeremy made me laugh out loud. I just downloaded the second book in the series. I'm dying to see what's next!

Engaging and Sexy!

What did you love best about Undone?

I enjoyed the forbidden love between Luke and Embry. Their chemistry was undeniable. I also liked the added layer of complication that was Jack.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Morgan was my favorite character. I'm a sucker for a good secondary character and she was great!

What about Stephanie Rose and Jonathan Meza ’s performance did you like?

Very easy to listen to.... I could feel the emotion depicted by Stephanie's voice.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I found myself laughing out loud at a few places. The story was entertaining, gripping and sexy.

Any additional comments?

Obviously, this is the first book in a series, so there are a lot of unanswered questions and a major cliffhanger! I just wish there had been more resolution with the Jack situation... it just kind of ended. Maybe there will be more in the next book?

3.75

First off let me say that I loved the narration! Stephanie Rose really voiced every character well. My favorite was of course when she voiced the hero, she gave him a swoon worthy accent. The male narrator only has a very small chapter.

Now onto the story. I was intrigued from the beginning, the hero seeming too perfect and you just know he's hiding something. It is insta-love so if you're not a fan you might not like this book. Where I struggled was when the heroine found out who he was. Her reaction was a little over the top, and kind of childish. It's ok to be angry but talk it out! She is a law student so I was expecting her to be a bit more mature. After she moves on from that and we get to know the hero more I realized that maybe he is perfect...well except for the big reveal. Of course the heroines reaction was just as expected. We are left without knowing the hero's side of the story, that will be revealed hopefully in the next book. So while I did not care much for the heroine I did enjoy the story. Embry has major issues she needs to deal with and I hope she's able to in the follow up to their story.

Kind of Creepy

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Even though I read the synopsis of the story, both my son and I were convinced Luke was going to secretly turn out to be a stalker. He comes off way too strong, way to early. Brie is immature. She acted more like an undergraduate than a graduate. I would have expected more from a law student (intelligence, hesitancy, just more).

Once the story takes off and you realize what's going on and the difficulties, things still felt uneven in the relationship department.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Frustration. Meanwhile, kudos to the narrators. They did an excellent job in performing this audiobook and making me feel like I really knew the characters.

Girl needs to grow up.

Thought this story could of been fantastic, but writing Embry so weak and wishy washy frustrated the crap outta of me. Come on she is a 1st year law student, but cant handle any kind of confrontation....I get drawing a story out, but using the Im not grown up enough to actually talk about things drives me a but batty. They aren’t high school students.
