About this listen

Eli Conners expected hired mercenary Ray Vereker to be a tank of a guy with 40 tattoos - not the feminine ideal with lethal combat skills. While Eli certainly needs Ray's help, the rest of him is thinking he might have something to offer her....

Ray's as good as any man when it comes to storming enemy compounds and loading an AK-47, but who could blame a girl for succumbing to mind-blowing temptation in the steamy jungle? But now it's back to business. If only Ray wasn't feeling hot, bothered, dizzy.... Suddenly Ray's precise, no-nonsense mission is veering wildly off course, derailed by raging hormones, out-of-control desire, and a delirious love that is completely unexpected....

Unexpected

This book started off good but fell a bit flat. In saying that, I am an action junkie and expected more female Rambo action. The twist, however was “Unexpected” and actually refreshing. I did not see that coming. It was a nice “listening” experience. The narrator is great. One of the few male narrators that does not sound gay when doing the female voices.

Great Listen

Love listening to Jim Frangione. He always seems to make my listen pleasant. I enjoyed the book because of him.

Awesome

The characters and plot keep you engaged. I really enjoyed the Heroine and the Hero was no slouch. The beginning, middle and end kept you entertained and engaged.

I would recommend this to a friend.

Lori Foster is a pretty good author, but...

I have enjoyed a couple of LF's books before, but am now recognizing a pattern: Ms. Foster seems to have a problem with the heroin being stronger, in ANY way, than the hero. In this story, she is supposed to be one of the best mercs around, in a profession dominated by men. Yet, the hero, who had to hire a pro for help, was able to subdue her every time. He was condescending and laughed at the idea that she could overpower him. Even though she could apparently overpower every other man. Eye-rolling romance.

Couldn’t finish

By chapter 5 she came off as overly touchy and out of control of herself and her emotions. He came off as a bully and close to a rapist. Not much further in I gave up.

I usually love Lori Foster. This was a disappointment.
