About this listen

I left my former life - and my mask - behind.

Running from a past where I was born unloved. A past where I was betrayed by love.

Running from a man and an organization with limitless power and stealth. Running for my life.

I never expected to find love on the run. Not in a tiny seaside town in the middle of nowhere.

Not without my mask.

But it seems as if my sad story is being rewritten with someone else's pen. But whose pen is it?

This question haunts me day and night. And I get my answer on a perfectly decadent evening. When I come home to find my bedroom perfumed with the scent of death.

He's here.

WHAT!

Ok... I didn't like this.. well I did but I didn't... There is a new guy in the story... WHY...? The ending was pretty good.. enough to keep me listening... But the whole new shift in guys and character change of the main female character kinda threw me for a loop.

Wortha sale... not a credit ...

Narration was good.

Wait – WHAT?!

This is not a standalone. To enjoy UNMASKED part 2 you must read UNMASKED part 1, which is ah-may-zing.

This second instalment is good, but not mind-blowing like the first instalment. I struggled with my rating here because I both liked and hated this book in equal measure.

I had to wait out the heroine Alex’s “recovery” from the events of the first instalment. But she’s jumped out of the frying pan and into the flames! She’s in so much danger…

In this part 2 something happens on the romance side of things that is a pet hate for me in a ‘romance’ novel –

SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT:

a NEW romance. So be warned, if your romance reading preference (like mine) is for the hero and heroine to be exclusive during the entire course of a novel, you’ll be tense here. Of course, this romantic detour is part of the ‘dark’ when it comes to a dark novel – as well as the violence and death that seem to follow some people around (with a whole lot of fast-paced movie-like action scenes). It’s well written, but I missed Daimon (hero of part 1)… so much. For this reason I did not like this instalment. The romance element needs redeeming. I can’t wait for part 3.

Kirsten Leigh narrated part 1 alone. She again narrated this part 2 together with Ryan West. Both performances were wonderful.

I'm on the edge of my seat!

I'm on the edge of my seat! I love this series and the narration is amazing! The accents and the voices make it 100 times better than reading it on your own!

Explains the first book, good stuff

Okay honestly this book was very good but not mind-blowing. I enjoyed it quite a bit though. That said I wouldn't buy these books separately and spend three credits on them but they are in the romance package so it was worth it.

A unique twist from book 1

This is not your typical Cassia story. This is not a sweet romance. This is not a stand-alone. You must listen to all three books for an ending. There is plenty of violence, intrigue, unique characters and crude sex so if you do not like any of these things do not read. If you love listening to stories that are just that, stories that take your mind on an unbelievable, exciting, journey of a young woman thrown in to an unbelievable situation and trained as a super weapon without knowing why this is for you. Just remember that not all fairy tales are about the good prince and princess!
