Publisher's summary

New York Times best-selling author Bertrice Small is hailed by Literary Times as the “reigning queen of romance” and has received numerous Reviewers’ Choice Awards from Romantic Times.

Set in the 16th century, Until You tells the tale of a young heroine who discovers the love of a lifetime. Beautiful Rosamund is introduced to the Earl of Glenkirk, and they immediately fall in love. Their growing passion is stifled, however, when war breaks out between England and Scotland.

Critic reviews

"Full of historical detail, political intrigue and lots of steamy, enthusiastic sex, the second Rosamund saga should please Small's many fans." ( Publishers Weekly)

OMG listening to her smack and swallow 🤯

I love Bertrice Small. This book is so good if somewhat sad but the narrator, ugh! She does an ok job but she makes these swallowing noises and these "smacking"noises in between sentences. I cannot stand "mouth sounds" (chewing, swallowing, smacking) and it was hard to get through.

Good story; decent narration

I really enjoyed this book. It is done in the usual forthright style of Bertrice Small. There are interesting, strong women, intrigue and court nonsense. The book opens with Rosamund falling in love at first sight with Patrick Leslie and he with her. I was sad for them both when their relationship ended. Nevertheless, she finds love in the end. There are some interesting historical events occurring as a nice backdrop to this story. I really enjoy books that weave true historical events with a good love story.

Who I enjoyed the most about his book was Tom, Lord Cambridge. He is a secondary character with a preeminent role. He is a support, voice of reason, and a fount of wisdom in this story. His flamboyant and witty style add a very nice touch to this book. I do believe this book is meant to be read/listened to in succession. There are four books total. I will be taking some time to read Rosamund as it is not currently on audible and is the first book in the series. However, there is no need to them in order to enjoy them.
The book is lengthy but not boring; well written and decently performed.

Love the book, but.....

I love Amanda Quick's writing. She bold, hot and interesting. That's why I couldn't wait to get into this story. I started listening to it and by the first hour i was waiting for it to end. The Nararation by Virgina Leishman was horrible. Everytime she swallowed your heard it and it was loud . It sounded like she had a mouth full of marbles. Again, the story was a good one. But I couldn't concern myself with the story because I was consumed by noise in the background. I have a mental note to not purchase anything that this individual nararates.

Too over the top

The narration did not appeal to me at all, feeling over done and pressured. The characters met fell in love and went to bed in the first chapter. I couldn't listen to more....I like a little more character development and suspense in the storyline.

A good story but ...

Before purchasing this book, I read the reviews. One in particular stood out, the reader said that the narration was often distracting because on swallowing noises. I discounted this comment because I have another book narrated by Virginia Leishman (Mrs. Dalloway) and no such distractions occur. So I bought the book. The story is a good one with a different twist. But the reviewer was right, one can hear what appear to be swallowing noises throughout the book more in some places than others. So I listened to excerpts from other books performed by Ms. Leishman and this seems to be an isolated case meaning perhaps she had a cold or some other problem while performing this book. I guess what I'm saying, don't disregard her other work based on this book alone. Whatever the problem it is not universal to all her work.

Now, the story is very good and even has a premise with a twist not usual in this gendre. If I had a hard copy of the book I probably enjoy the story very much.

I am a fan of Bertrice Small. This book is awesome you will not be displeased at all. I hope to enjoy more of her books at audible.com. This book's heiress is a lovable character who meets the love of her life, but to find it will not last through misfortune. Her neighbor has been in love with her since her girlhood and she is his great love. It is amusing how he is coach by her relatives to win her. Great book.

I saw a much different ending.

I thought that Patrick, the Earl of Glenkirk, would have remembered Rosamund after returning home. Read all the letters that he wrote to her nightly while they were apart, and BAMB, his memory would return. I really loved 💜 how Patrick & Rosamund Love story began. And would have like to have seen a HEA with this couple.
Just sayin.

I like the book but...

I have a huge pet peeve with “mouth noises” and this lady swallows every single line. It’s so gross.

The narrators smacking noises😬

I can NOT stand smacking noises in general but when you're listening to a book most of the time w/ ear buds in, it is CRINGE worthy. Like nails on a chalkboard. I can't continue. I read these books in their paperback form long ago & loved them but I can't get past the smacking noises after almost every sentence. If it was here & there it wouldn't bother me AS much but it is legit after almost every sentence or even during the sentence. Not cool! I downloaded it on kindle & will read it when I can. Luckily the last 2 in the series are read by someone else.
