About this listen
Ayaan Hirsi Ali's Infidel meets The Handmaid's Tale.
Since September 11, 2001, the Western world has been preoccupied with Islam and its role in terrorism. Yet, public debate about the faith is polarized. One camp praises "the religion of peace", while the other claims all Muslims are terrorists. Canadian human rights activist Yasmine Mohammed believes both sides are dangerously wrong.
In Unveiled: How Western Liberals Empower Radical Islam, Yasmine speaks her truth as a woman born in the Western world yet raised in a fundamentalist Islamic home. Despite being a first-generation Canadian, she never felt at home in the West. And even though she attended Islamic schools and wore the hijab since age nine, Yasmine never fit in with her Muslim family, either. With one foot in each world, Yasmine is far enough removed from both to see them objectively, yet close enough to see them honestly.
Part Ayaan Hirsi Ali's Infidel, part The Handmaid's Tale, Yasmine's memoir takes listeners into a world few Westerners are privy to. As a college educator for over 15 years, Yasmine's goal is to unveil the truth. Is FGM Islamic or cultural? Is the hijab forced or a choice? Is ISIS a representation of "true" Islam or a radical corruption? And why is there so much conflicting information? Like most insular communities, the Islamic world has both an "outside voice" and an "inside voice". It's all but impossible for bystanders to get a straight answer.
Without telling anyone what to believe, Unveiled navigates the rhetoric and guides truth-seekers through media narratives, political correctness, and outright lies while encouraging listeners to come to their own conclusions.

Story
In this short book, Sam Harris and Maajid Nawaz invite you to join an urgently needed conversation: Is Islam a religion of peace or war? Is it amenable to reform? Why do so many Muslims seem drawn to extremism? What do words like Islamism, jihadism, and fundamentalism mean in today's world? Remarkable for the breadth and depth of its analysis, this dialogue between a famous atheist and a former radical is all the more startling for its decorum. Harris and Nawaz have produced something genuinely new: they engage one of the most polarizing issues of our time - fearlessly and fully - and actually make progress.

Story
In Prey, Ayaan Hirsi Ali presents startling statistics, criminal cases and personal testimony. Among these facts: In 2014, sexual violence in Western Europe surged following a period of stability. This violence isn’t a figment of alt-right propaganda, Hirsi Ali insists, even if neo-Nazis exaggerate it. It’s a real problem that Europe—and the world—cannot continue to ignore. She explains why so many young Muslim men who arrive in Europe engage in sexual harassment and violence, tracing the roots of sexual violence in the Muslim world.

If forced to return home, she was sure she would be killed, like other rebel women in her country. As men pounded at the door of her barricaded hotel room, she opened a Twitter account. The teenager reached out to the world, and the world answered—she gained 45,000 followers in one day, and those followers helped her seek asylum in the West. Now Rahaf Mohammed tells her remarkable story in her own words.

A photo on Masih's Facebook page: a woman standing proudly, face bare, hair blowing in the wind. Her crime: removing her veil, or hijab, which is compulsory for women in Iran. This is the self-portrait that sparked "My Stealthy Freedom", a social media campaign that went viral. But Masih is so much more than the arresting face that sparked a campaign inspiring women to find their voices. She's also a world-class journalist whose personal story, told in her unforgettably bold and spirited voice, is emotional and inspiring.

Story
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

As a twenty-three-year-old singer and the soon-to-be wife of youth pastor Joshua Harris, nothing in Shannon Harris's secular upbringing prepared her to enter the world of conservative Christianity. Soon Joshua's bestselling book I Kissed Dating Goodbye helped inspire a national purity movement, and Shannon's identity became "pastor's wife." The Woman They Wanted recounts Shannon's remarkable experience inside Big Church—where she was asked to live within a narrow definition of womanhood for almost two decades—and her journey out of that world and into a more authentic version of herself.

Thank you for writing this book! Yasmine! Thank you for speaking up
My dear lovely friend Yasmine M,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing your story and experiences Yassmine! I cannot explain in word how I felt reading your book and parallels and commons to your story and experiences to mine ( actually to millions individuals are relatable to your book in many ways! I am so proud of you so many ways the strong woman you become despite everything you went through! I am not along that people like you and Ayaan are heroes and courageous and know what freedom and liberty is!
Thank you so much for everything and the especially the message that to world that why are stories and experiences are people like me and you aren’t welcome in mainstream media and organizations! What happen It will be a dream come true to sit down sometime and just chat with you and get to know maybe we might be able to collaborate mean listen to each other's story and what we can do to help others and educate the world and humanity regarding this topic! We have to stay vigilant/strong and stand up for these awful behaviors especially little innocent girls are getting cut every day Especially in western countries ones who live in the free countries! This breaks my heart to pieces seriously these citizen children are not even protected even though they are American citizens!!!!!!!!!! That's why I need to speak up I need to stand up for them and help those who are voiceless! Like I always tell myself or and state something regarding this topic ... if I don't do this job who is going to do it though who is going to stop this horrifying practices like FGM and other abuses/honor are killing/ especially when it comes this particular ideology! Why is this ideology/culture and teachings is untouchable and in-critique-able!! When I read your book and Ayaan HA I felt I was reading my story and experiences and cried so much that after all I wasn’t crazy nor alone! Especially, horrifying practice (FGM) that are done to many innocent little girls children! I wonder where the children protection is because we aren’t familiar with this topic or culture that we are not going to stand for all children! many of us who went FGM had no choice to escape this terrible experiences but breaks my heart to pieces to see these practices are happening in western countries as North America, Canada and Europe many other nations! But sadly, it seems like we are afraid and failed to address horrifying issues ( practices) Any human being or person who desires of helping and willing to help others, I highly recommend Yassmine M and Ayaan HA work and books please check their work and educate yourself so that you can help/save individuals!
Thank you both Yasmine and Ayaan for open the road for many of us who’s coming behind! You are both beautiful inside and out bravery of breaking the stigmas and taboos that millions of us are told no do not say anything even when our guts (instincts) are saying no say something! You are both are the heroes of millions individuals who can’t speak up yet and give hopes and encourages that anything is possible in life! Here’s my saying I have been saying and proudly especially, after read yours books now I can say it Clear and loud! (Sara, “We must fight this together because we are in it together even if we free ourselves we do not feel completely free without fighting for those who can’t do the same! I myself Sara refused to stay silent because my instincts is telling me I must speak up! And I must stand up what I believing in! Together we can make difference in the whole world and humanity!
I am sorry I wrote a lot it seems like I wrote my book already!
Thank you for listen and read and helping and saving lives because at end of the day we all matter every individual life’s matter!

A truly moving story
I have not cried while reading a book since Khaled Hosseini's Kite Runner... I cried like a baby reading this.
I cried as I heard Yasmin's voice break when reading the chapters about her abuse, that got me. To me, this is why Audible is different. I got to hear about her pain through her voice while reading, not just imagine it. I connected with her, my heart and prayers reached out to her. I wanted to protect the little girl I was reading about...

Speak your truth, regardless of what tribe it might offend
Living in the US, you get caught up in the “liberalism”, the “wokeness”, of those around you. This book is perfect to remind all of us that fighting ideas is not the same as fighting people. Yasmine has inspired me to think more critically and have the difficult conversations I’ve been avoiding.
