About this listen

Connor Bannon is supposed to be dead. Dishonorably discharged from the Navy SEALs, he's spent the last two years working as a street enforcer in Brooklyn for his cousin's crime ring. Through a twist of fate, he's now in Chicago, working undercover to bust criminals. But when a cute little arsonist joins the team - all combat boots, tiny jean shorts, and hot-pink hair - Connor's notorious iron control slips.

Erin "she's getting away" O'Dea knows two things. She hates authority. And... Nope, that's it. When she's forced to operate on the "right" side of the law, her fear of being confined and controlled blazes to the surface. The last thing she expects is a control freak like Connor to soothe her when she needs it most. Worse, something behind the sexy ex-soldier's eyes ignites a dangerous inferno of desire. One that invites Erin to play with fire. And one that could get them both killed...

Each book in the Crossing the Lines series is a stand-alone, full-length story that can be enjoyed out of order.

1% thriller, 24% romance, 75% mouthy sex

The plot: Chicago PD pulls together a suicide squad to track down an escaped inmate. Only instead of super powers, this squad is made up of disgraced cops, soldiers, and criminals. The squad consists of the previous book’s couple and the next book’s couple, plus Connor and Erin. There’s enough recapping that it’s not necessary to take these in order to enjoy them. And, since there’s hardly any time spent on the mission, you really only get these for the smex, right?

The romance: Every book has a beyond possessive guy, mouthy “you’re so wet for me baby” dialogue, and MCs who both have extreme baggage. The “romance” is the guy instantly obsessed and them bonding by helping each other thru their baggage.

The sex: it starts within minutes of them meeting and happens a dozen times. The amount of sex cannot be overstated. It felt like Sam I Am… do you like sex? Do you like it against the wall? In a theater?
With handcuffs? Against a window? On the floor? Yes? You do? Well, you’re in luck because they do it against the wall, in a theater, with handcuffs… yep, they like sex everywhere.

The eyeroll is strong.
But, as long as you don’t take it too seriously,
and if you like bossy, mouthy, manly men,
then this book gives great bang for your buck.
