The immortal knight, Sir Richard of Ashbury, hunts his nemesis through centuries of war....

AD 1190, England. A young knight's family is slaughtered. As the lords of Europe seek to retake Jerusalem from the mighty Saladin, Sir Richard swears an oath of vengeance against Earl William de Ferrers, who has returned from the dead with an insatiable thirst for violence.

Richard stalks William and his savage knights across Europe to the Holy Land, fights in the crusades' bloodiest battles alongside Richard the Lionheart and unearths a secret of great evil under the hills of Palestine.

I can't get enough of his books. Davis is one of the best historical fiction writers I've ever encountered.

Very interesting take on Christianity and vampirism. I never made the connection of Jesus's redirection and how this could be connected to vampires. The book itself is worth the read which I read several years ago and was glad to see this book came out on audible. Good mix of action, interpretation of mythology, and the crusades themselves.

Vampires = Jesus?

Let me get straight to the point. This story does have vampires within, but they don't have any real power except that daylight doesn't bother them and they can heal from wounds. Other than that, they are normal humans. Might as well be 'immortal like in Highlander' Smh.

So if you came here to see how certain vampire powers would play out in certain historical situations like I did, then you will be disappointed. Nothing happens here. Just a naive overly polite MC yarning on and on about oaths and honor to people who don't respect oaths and have no honor.

A failed revenge tale.

I'm not sure what to think. it's definitely a different take on vampires. I will give the next book a chance before I make my decision.

Crusader Vampire is an absolute thrill ride! The fighting scenes are nothing short of spectacular—vivid, intense, and perfectly choreographed to ignite the imagination. Every battle feels cinematic, drawing me in as if I were right there, experiencing the clash of power firsthand.

Beyond the action, the story is engaging, and the world is rich with depth, but one thing that frustrates me is how dense the protagonist can be when it comes to wits. For someone surrounded by danger and intrigue, he often seems slow to pick up on things, which can be exasperating at times.

That said, the sheer excitement of the combat and the immersive worldbuilding make this book an amazing experience. If you love adrenaline-fueled fights that leap off the page, Crusader Vampire is a must-read. I’m eager to see where the story goes next!
