Publisher's summary

One mystery, one romance, and a fire-belching bulldog.

In the heart of Singsong City, a retired assassin seeks refuge among the shelves of her beloved library. But when a familiar face from her past resurfaces, she is drawn back into a world of danger and deceit. With the help of an unlikely ally, she must unravel the mysteries of her own past before they consume her future. Will she find peace in the quiet of the stacks, or will the shadows of her past drag her back into the fray?

Vampires Don’t Suck is the first book in the Singsong City series. It is a standalone paranormal romantic comedy featuring elves, werewolves, witches, vampires, and angel assassins. Funtastic story

This was a single point of view, paranormal, mystery, political intrigue with a dash of comedy. FMC a feisty, strong willed quick to throw a death rune and/or crayon at any moment.

MMC The scholar vampire, protector/ ruler of his domain,That happens to be the sweetest most forgiving monster to ever monster.

So much adventure and even more Sushi (I love the comedic relief that sushi brought to the story)

Highly Recommend

Good story but the virtual voice isn't perfect yet.

The virtual voice isn't bad but it does lack a bit of depth and enthusiasm that you get from a good narrator. Also there is a weird break when it reads out the chapter numbers that is slightly off-putting.

Great storytelling

Enjoyed this and look forward to more.
The AI narration was one of the better ones I’ve listened to… real narrator(s) would have been better.

The complexity of the storyline was a delightful surprise

Stumbled across this, thinking that due to the story summary that it would end up being a bit of fluff to fall asleep to. Happy to report that I was very wrong. This author is a world builder. Anyone wanting to walk through an intelligent and inventive new adventure should not skip this one.

Great story!

I really loved the storyline. It has interesting characters and a good plot. The virtual voice was about the equivalent of having Alexa read to you.

Horrible Narration

The narration was horrible. It was delivered in a monotone which is typical for AI. But to make it worse, there was little to no variation in the different character's voices making it hard to determine who was speaking.

Virtual voice sucks

The story was fun, and I’m happy I got to listen to it. But I hope they hire a real person to do it and this was just a placeholder. Hell, I’ll read it for free. The fun of audiobooks is the acting and intonation. The usefulness is being able to listen when driving or doing chores. This was just like, drinking Soylent. I got my nutrition (a story I wanted), but it wasn’t enjoyable.

Ruined by AI narration

The narration ruined what might be a pretty good book. It's advertised as a romantic comedy but many of the puns and comedic parts came across as flat and unamusing because AI can not give the lines the proper inflection that it needs. While I didn't enjoy the narration at all I continued to listen to the whole book because I really wanted to like the story. I hope that author/publisher see this review and update the recording with an actual human because the book itself has a lot of potential.
