Darkness is reborn.

After years of exile, Cora has returned to her rightful place as princess. She has her title, her home, and even the man she loves. But a devastating secret threatens to shatter everything she’s worked for...including her heart.

Newly engaged, Prince Teryn is determined to get to know the woman he is to marry. But when he becomes separated from his betrothed, his plans come crashing down. In a moment of anger, he makes one fatal mistake that unleashes a new reign of darkness.

Teryn and Cora find themselves on opposite sides of an ancient prophecy, tangled in a web of lies, legend, magic, and memories. Evil has returned to the land of Lela. This time, no one will ever see it coming.

Once again, Emma Faye has masterfully brought to life the characters and story in this series. I can't tell which I enjoy more, the narration or the book itself. Highly recommend!

This story opens very smoothly, with great attention given to details. Progression of story, coupled with the Narrator having a smooth sounding voice that is clear with great vocal pressure, makes for an enjoyable tale. The Author is very adept at displaying Medieval family heritage rites in a surprisingly good form with families traced back further than one would expect.
I recommend this audiobook for ages 12 and older due to some violence.
I was given this audiobook for free and I freely give it my rating and opinion.

Excellent Fantasy Story

A great second installment. The plot twists are deeper and more than that of the first book. Fair warning, you’re going to get frustrated, you’ll kick, scream, want to shake people, all while not wanting to put down this twisted tale.

Narrator is great, good character differentiations and pace of reading.

Parents: reference to intimate relationships, gore, and a fair amount of blood.

Highly recommend this series.

If I thought the first book was good, this one was incredible! I was a bit concerned when the last one ended because I couldn't figure out how there could be much conflict in this one, but it gripped my attention all the way through and I can't wait to hear how the story resolves.

Better and Better

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator was excellent, and the story was interesting. I listened to the first book last year, and was happy to listen to the sequel and find out what happened to the characters.

Good fantasy sequel

At first I didn't like how it was narrated but after a while I got used to it, the story was so moving and provoking it made me feel apart of it, screaming and shouting at the characters. I'm certainly going to want to read it listen to the rest of the books in this series.

Heartbreaking yet beautiful

This second book is voiced so much better than the first one! The guys don't all sound evil now. I still think Mare was spoiled, but it seems like by the end of this, she does a lot of maturing! This was filled with twists and turns and many surprises.

So Much Better

Just like my review of the first story, I really enjoyed the story while listening to this book. I found the characters very engaging and well developed and the world building well done. My only problem is the narrator. She sounded very whiny to my ears and there wasn't a lot of distinction in her voices and tone. The male characters most often didn't sound masculine at all and the unicorn's voice was like a little child - the kind that grates on you. This is really unfortunate, because, like I said, the story itself is very good. I can't wait for the last book in the series!

Great story, not so great narrator
