About this listen

The Tantric text Vijnanabhairava is a true treasure of spiritual literature. It is one of the most interesting practical documents of Tantric instruction that is direct, practical, and sublime. It can help aspirants immensely in studying Tantra, Yoga, Magick, and enlightenment in general. It contains both a large number of practical methods for obtaining enlightened awareness, but also in its brief way contains a philosophical outlook that is refreshing and fascinating. It expresses the essence of Tantra in a way that no other text, ancient or modern, has ever achieved. It focuses on taking all potential experiences in life and turning them into vehicles for discovering the enlightened awareness that is always there in the background. To dwell with this audio for any time is to catch a taste of the divine in this moment.

A clear simple set of 112 techniques for enlightenment

A great non duel text presented purely.
In the form of a dialogue between God and Goddess.

basic fluff teachings,

That want to convert you to blindly worshipping a idea, not real tantra, had no universal applicable information.

Narrated very nice...

Where does Vijnanabhairava rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

So far this by far the first audio book but I would be inclined to listen to more.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Vijnanabhairava?

Mostly in general the way it was explained in a less non religious way by showing all the positives without forceful conversion. Not preachy.

What does Jason Rogers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I notice he's slow speaking and takes his time allowing the new listener to digest all this new information and I like that about him. And his use of Phonetics within this book is truly phenomenal as he speak tongue twister words with the greatest of ease.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

The Total Tantra

Any additional comments?

Jason did a good job with book Narration I'd listen to another one of his reads again.

Terrible narrator

The narrator has zero ability to pronounce Sanskrit words and doesn't even try. As a Tantric practitioner who is familiar with the VBT practices, the narrator does this text no favors at all. Why didn't the translator and publisher respect this ancient text enough to actually find someone who could pronounce Sanskrit?

For that matter, Newcomb's interpretation of the VBT is itself shallow and lacking. At times, completely misleading. So why should I be surprised that he chose a narrator, Jason Rogers, who has no idea what he's doing either?

The narration is a crime against the book

This is one of my favorite books, so it was especially painful to hear so many significant words mispronounced. Another edition, with correct pronunciation. would be greatly appreciated.

Basic Sanskrt Pronounciation

What disappointed you about Vijnanabhairava?

This is a beautiful, sacred text, yet the reader can not pronounce even the title correctly.

Difficult to fallow with terrible pronunciation

there's no space between the meditations and the narrator doesn't have any knowledge of Sanskrit. it makes the whole experience a bit challenging to stick through
