About this listen

Sebastian Sherbrook, a self-proclaimed scoundrel and the newly minted Marquess of Manwaring, returns to London after his estranged uncle dies, intent on reforming his rakish image once and for all. Yet through no fault of his own, he's soon embroiled in the biggest scandal of the Season, and his secret plans to court the only woman he's ever wanted are in shambles.

Lady Katherine Manwaring knows her poor opinion of her late husband's nephew isn't about to change, even if the Times has dubbed him "The Single Most Beautiful Man in London." When fate casts Sebastian upon her mercy, however, she learns two shocking truths: he may not be the scoundrel his reputation suggests, and he's hopelessly in love...with her.

But an irate squire, an even more irate dog, several dawn appointments, meddling friends, and a touch of blackmail aren't the only things that stand in the way of their happy ending. Can Katherine accept Sebastian's love - and will he still want her if he learns her own dark secret?

Can't wait for part three!

Would you consider the audio edition of Virtuous Scoundrel to be better than the print version?

Thought about this, I much prefer listening to the narrator on this. She did a great job.

What did you like best about this story?

The humor, again more very interesting characters and interesting situations.

What does Sue Pitkin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Same as previous narrator, nuance!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I could have yes, but since the third installment has been released yet I had to pace myself in order to savor the story. Very funny and happy.

Any additional comments?

Waiting for #3 please!!!

Enjoyable

Lots of humor. Narration is excellent! And I really enjoy the lack of highly detailed sex scenes. There's only so many ways someone can lose their virginity or have sex. And when you read romance novels a lot, it becomes redundant fast. So I really enjoy the stories and tend to skim the sex scenes, hence really appreciating not having an entire chapter dedicated to one sex scene.

Maggie Fenton is a wonderful, delightful writer

Any additional comments?

Even though this is the second in series, it stands alone. But don't miss the first one because books 1 and 2 in the series are both really good. Maggie Fenton is a funny writer. The conversation among the writers is witty and entertaining. In this book the hero and heroine are both likable. She is his late uncle's wife, but he always loved her and is trying to overcome his undeserved bad reputation in order to win her love. The dogs play a big role in the plot and are very entertaining. There is a villain who has a hard time with the use of words - which is very funny. This is feel good book that kept my attention. I really liked it.

Well done!

I enjoyed this book; it took me out my daily life and let me be somewhere else for a while! Just what I needed, being snowbound once more! How fun to "leave" the frozen North and enjoy make believe from another era, and laugh out loud besides! Praise to all who helped make a good story and to the reader and audio folk for very believable voices!

Charming, funny, sexy.

My only complaint is that I now must wait for Maggie Fenton to finish her next book! Virtuous Scoundrel is a joyful continuation of the story from The Duke's Holiday with the added bonus of some excellent dogs. Sebastian and Katherine are just star-crossed enough to make their happy outcome particularly satisfactory.

Read- don't listen to this book!

This book is a light and funny little delight- perfect for vacation. However, the narrator ruined it for me. Both the male and female leads sounded snobbish and about 50 years older than late 20s/early 30's of the characters. I truly hope they find a different narrator for the 3rd book.

Not as Entertaining as the first one

As with all audio books, the narrator makes a huge difference. I had a hard time listening to her interpretations of the characters.

Sad start, happy ending

This story was sad about 3/4 of the way for both the hero and the heroine. It was so disheartening I almost put it down. Once it turned around though it was enjoyable for both characters.
