About this listen
Join Henry, Sam, and an appealing supporting cast as they ride a roller coaster of emotions when their lives are derailed before coming back on track, leaving Nash as collateral damage in the novel, 'Til Death Do Us Part, novelette From This Day Forward, and short story Okay, Then. Nash takes an unusual path to his own happily ever after in To Love and to Cherish.
Contains the stories:
'Til Death Do Us Part
Henry and Sam are living the dream, but their worlds are shattered when Henry's plane crashes and he's presumed dead. But Henry survives undetected on a remote, small, and insignificant island. Will Sam and Henry's love be able to survive, as well? When Henry is rescued, will Sam be able to put aside his new love when he reunites with Henry?
From This Day Forward
With their nightmare separation behind them, Henry and Sam are anxious to renew both the intensity of their former intimacies - now hampered by having a curious and still apprehensive child sharing their home - and their commitment to one another. Will they be able to move their love forward now that they are together again?
Okay, Then
Sam and Henry's first date/encounter is mentioned in flashback in 'Til Death Do Us Part, but this short story fleshes it out. Relive the moment they first connect while on a research trip in Honiara in the Solomon Islands.
To Love and to Cherish
Jilted by his fiancé, Sam, just weeks before their wedding, Nash Marino's outlook on life in general, and love in particular, is jaded. Will Nash find love again? Of course he will. Will he go about it in the usual way? Now that's another story entirely. When Nash's marriage-of-convenience scheme is muddied by notions of love after a memory reboot, will their plans go awry, or will Nash's new outlook on life be just what the doctor ordered?

The words on the page jumbled into a toxic mess my brain refused to comprehend, much less accept. Please consider this letter as a formal request to arrange a paternity test (DNA). I barely remembered Chelsea Airy. That wasn't true - we'd gone out once, and we'd been friends for a while after. But I hadn't heard so much as a peep from her since I'd gotten married. I'd reached out a handful of times, but she'd quit responding and fell off the face of the earth.

Story
I fell in love with Holden York when I was six years old. Most of my youth came with spiral notebooks filled with doodles, wedding plans, and "Janelle York" looped in bubbly handwriting. However, one night in Vegas changed everything. I woke up to more than just a fantasy of my brother's best friend. Five years later, I'm standing on his doorstep confronting him about the secret he kept from me. If you think this is the story of how we rode off into the sunset together...You're so wrong.

Story
Love and the right timing were two things I didn't believe in. Love is about walking to the edge of the cliff and taking the leap together. Timing was never on our side. My first mistake was hooking up with my best friend. My second came years later, when we met again, and I fell for her. My third was letting her go, because I had to. Because a love like this wasn't built to withstand the winds coming in our direction. Love and timing. I didn't believe in either. Then there was you....

Fascinating series.
I've listened to a few really short (less than 2 hours) audio books without first reading the ebook, but this is the first long audiobook that I've ever listened to without reading the ebook first. It's also the first book I've "read" by Addison Albright.
Once I started listening to this story I couldn't stop. I listened to book 1 without taking a break. I had to split the rest up over the next couple of days but I really, really wanted to keep going. I'm fairly new to audio books partly because I never really thought that one would be able to hold my attention very well. That is also is why I'd previously only listened to books that I've already read. The Vows Box Set proved me wrong. I was engrossed in the story and just had to keep listening.
I'm not sure if I would have the same reaction to this series if I'd read the ebook, and not listened to the audio, but I like to think that I would. I've never listened to anything by David Gilmore before and I enjoyed his voice. The only small comment about his performance I have is that sometimes it sounded like the characters were speaking with too many exclamation points. I can't honestly say I would seek out books that he's performed but I would certainly be more than willing to listen to another one.
The stories in this set were full of emotion. I had no idea how long Henry would be marooned on the island (it was a long time but I'm not telling details) but the author gave us enough details about the survivor's daily life to keep things interesting while at the same time keeping the pace of the story moving along.
Books often bring me to tears but I was still surprised when I found myself crying while listening in certain places. It seems that tears while listening to an audio book are also going to be a good measure for me of how much I enjoy the story, just like when I read.
I'm so glad that Nash got his HEA; I enjoyed his book just as much as the ones about Sam and Henry.
An advanced copy of this audio book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Good read
This was a feel good read.. It's also dealt in honesty. Even though the situation between Nash, Sam and Henry was very awkward and heart breaking in the end everything happened for a reason. And everything was ok in the end. I loved the characters. Their emotions and reactions were very real and honest.. Sometimes tragedy is what bring the right people together.

Good stories but narration not so much
Here we have 2 full novels and 2 short stories sandwiched between.
First off is “Til Death Do Us Part” in which Henry and Sam have been married for several years. Henry leaves for a business trip, His plane crashes into the ocean in the Pacific. There are quite a few who manage to get out of the plane, only to drown because of the currents. Henry has knowledge of currents and leads two other men in the right direction toward a small island. Before Henry got off the plane, an 8 month old baby was thrust into his hands. He manages to save the baby as well. The wreck of the plane being further from the island, rescue efforts ignore the island and all are presumed dead. Henry and the two other men survive 5 years on the island when a drone being flown by picks up their images and they are rescued. Henry has become Papa to Buddy, the surviving baby, and he knows that if he is ever rescued, he wants to adopt Buddy.
Sam, meanwhile has finally moved on after three agonizing years of not being able to let go. He is now engaged to Nash and their wedding is just weeks away when the news that Henry is alive comes. Who will Sam choose.
The next two are short stories about what Henry and Sam (sorry, spoiler, but unavoidable here) go through trying to adopt Buddy once his real family has been found.
Finally, there is “To Love and to Cherish” which picks up Nash’s story 4 months after his breakup with Sam. Nash is a nurse who has become close with an elderly patient who is in for knee replacement surgery. Grampy tells Nash that he has a gay grandson that Nash should meet. Nash is down on love when he learns that the grandson is the good looking orthopedic surgeon he has worked with before, he is shocked becauseMiles was married to a woman. But they have just divorced, Miles has a new condo and Grampy is going to need home health care for a while. Miles offers Nash a job as a live-in nurse. He brings Nash to see the apartment, and takes his offer one step further. He proposes marriage to Nash saying that he doesn’t believe in London ve, just good companionship and good sex. Nash agrees. Then he is in a car accident that causes him to lose his memory of the last 4 months. While recuperating, he begins to fall in love with Miles. But what will happen if his memory returns and he realizes Miles doesn’t really live him? Or does he?
I enjoyed the stories very much, but David Gilmore’s narration was awkward and stiff. Strange ways of delivering lines that would go up at the end, almost like a question when it was a statement. He delivered the stories, but odd voices and into nations just threw things off. A different narrator might have been able to deliver the romance better.

Great audiobook!
I did this sort of backwards, since I'd read To Love and To Cherish (book 3) when it came out, but still hadn't had time to catch up with the rest, so of course, I jumped at the chance to listen to the Vows Box Set and it was a really great experience.
In 'Til Death Do Us Part, Henry and Sam had been happily married when Henry's plane crashes and he's presumed dead for 5 years. During that time, Henry and his fellow survivors, Garrett, Devon and baby Buddy, do whatever they need to survive on a small island, making do with fruits, seaweed and fish. In the meantime, Sam goes through all the grieving process, finally allowing himself the chance to love again when he meets Nash. But just when they're preparing their wedding, Henry and the rest of the guys are rescued and now Sam will have to decide who he wants to spend the rest of his life with?
In From This Day Forward, Henry and Sam are dealing with the aftermath of them wanting to adopt Buddy and learning to be together again.
In Okay, Then, Ms. Albright shows expands on how Henry and Sam first started dating.
And finally, in To Love and To Cherish, Nash is disillusioned and bitter after his ex-fiancé left him two weeks before their wedding to get back together with his husband, and really, after what happened, who can blame him? He's been sleeping on his best friend's couch and he knows he's overstayed his welcome. He's not looking for love, but he does want the companionship, the commitment, the monogamy and hopefully, decent sex. When he finds out that Dr. Myles Burlingham is looking for both a live-in aid nurse for his grandfather and someone he can share his life with, after going through a very bad divorce, he takes him up on his marriage offer, after all, a marriage based on mutual convenience has to be better than one based on supposed love. Newly engaged, Nash is moving to Myles' apartment when he suffers a freak accident that wipes his memories for the last four months. How will this affect their marriage of convenience?
I really enjoyed listening to these audiobooks back to back, although I have to admit that 'Til Death Do Us Part and To Love and To Cherish were my favorites, because we got to see more of both Henry and Sam and Nash and Myles (Emmitt), respectively.
Henry and Sam's story was heartbreaking. Maybe Henry's a bit more so, since he was cut from civilization, their hopes of being rescued dwindling the longer it took for it to happen. I cried quite a bit when they were found. Their account of what they lived through in the island and all they did to survive and how they dealt with it all, was probably my favorite part. It was very realistic, in my opinion.
I felt bad for Sam, but he had his family and more resources at his disposal. Henry only had Buddy, Garrett and Devon and a great deal of fear that Sam would've already remarried once they got rescued, which was not all that unfounded.
I loved Nash and Emmitt (Myles) in To Love and To Cherish, they were truly made for each other and while the start of their relationship was a bit unconventional, it was obvious there was more to it than what met the eye, at least on Emmitt's part. I just loved seeing Emmitt being so sweet with his grandfather and how nervous he was when he first proposed to Nash. And Nash, well, considering all he went through with Sam, it was completely understandable that he was as messed up about it as he was, even if he realized he wasn't as into Sam as he'd thought at first. The chemistry between Nash and Emmitt was amazing and it was lovely to see them falling for each other as they continued their relationship after the accident. Emmitt's grandfather was awesome and I adored Nash's friends.
Overall, I think the Box Set is a great addition to the library of any Addison Albright's fans and it will give you hours of enjoyment. David Gilmore's voice is pretty even and pleasant and even if he doesn't provide a wide range of voices, he did inject the necessary emotion in some of the most poignant moments in the books and that was more than enough for me.
