About this listen

In the wake of the Dropsite Massacre at Isstvan V, the survivors of the Salamanders Legion searched long and hard for their fallen primarch, but to no avail. Little did they know that while Vulkan might have wished himself dead, he lives still...languishing in a hidden cell for the entertainment of a cruel gaoler, his brother Konrad Curze.

Enduring a series of hellish tortures designed to break his body and spirit, Vulkan witnesses the depths of the Night Haunter's depravity but also discovers something else - a revelation that could change the course of the entire war.

Very good story! No holds barred on Vulkan's Torture. His Circumstances become more and more bleak and his Fatalities become more and more gruesome. Vulkan's Pain is unmatched. I will listen to this multiple times.

Enthralling

I see some people trashing it or saying confusing. I don't get it. Yes there are multiple stories. But, not to the point where it's confusing. This was such a great story. I liked the view of Vulkan. All the stories were well written. This has actually been one of my favorites.

Great Story. Not Sure What Other People Read

The story itself was really good. I think the trouble some of these stories are running into is the comparisons to previous stories, and ultimately I don’t feel the need to hear about Isstvan anymore.

A good story

Many seem to dislike the multiple stories, but they are all connected and make for a great overall story with a hint of mystery. The narrator's voices for characters tend to sound the same, and he has difficulty switching between two characters quickly. Overall, it's a great story and the descriptions of Vulkan going HAM are worth it alone.

Intertwined story

The maze at the end

Memento style story - overall close some loops and opened up new ones with questions that may be answered in later books. Philosophical and captivating storyline. A bit confusing at times.

Creative and insightful
