Waite on the Ripper: The Celestial Wars, Book 1

What if I told you that Jack the Ripper is a supernatural predator whose murder spree spans centuries?

Now Jack has come to Austin, and every woman in my city is in mortal danger. I’m Harmon Waite, a homegrown private investigator. I’m supposed to stop the Ripper, but all I’ve managed to do is piss that devil off. As I go from hunter to hunted, I have one chance to survive the night.

Of course, that’s when the fallen angel shows up.

  1. Waite on the Ripper - a hyper-intense roller-coaster ride down a dark highway
  2. Waite on the Blind Angel - a dangerous cat-and-mouse game with a fallen archangel
  3. Waite on the Hero’s Journey - an out-of-this-world parachute jump - without the chute
  4. Waite on the Angel of Death - a black-magic-showdown with an entire plane
  5. Waite on the Trail of Terror - the ride through a house of horrors to die for
  6. Waite on the Antichrist - an end to Harmon’s world and the real beginning of

The Celestial Wars: The soul-blessed worlds will never be the same.

A great beginning to the series

Waite on the Ripper is a fantastic introduction to The Celestial Wars series. Through the investigation of the murder of a young girl, we are introduced to each of the main characters and what their special talents are. There’s a great good vs evil plot line.

Both the author and narrator are new to me, and I was quite impressed. John Campbell did a great job with presenting the details and building the characters up. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next.

Dan Johnson has the perfect voice for Harmon Waite. Exactly how I imagined he would sound.

Fantastic

I totally loved this audiobook! And I am thrilled to see that it is a series and Campbell already has five books on audio. I'm so excited. I can't wait for more! I just wish the books were a little longer. But that just me. :)

Outstanding

Another great story by this superb author. Strong characters, action to keep you intrigued. All of this helped by the Narrator’s reading of the book.

John is such a talented writer!

John is such a talented writer! This was my first book in this genre, and the story is so engaging and full of tension - nearly every chapter ends on a cliffhanger. The descriptions of hell were terrifying, fresh, and so believable. And not to mention the narration was ON POINT and really brought this story to life!

Good Story, But a Heavy Catholic Overtones

I am a Traditional Native American following Traditional ways. That said I truely enjoy the Actual Story, but was put off by the Heavy Catholic Presents in this story. I will try the 2nd book because I did like the bones of this book.
Narrator did a Excellent job on the characters voices and the storyline.

A different take on "Jack the Ripper"

Boy, there is a lot packed into this short book at 3.5 hours long. I enjoyed listening to this book. The narration was excellent. The story is strange, interesting, full of action. Not what one would expect with a "Jack the Ripper" story. I look forward to the sequel.

Intense!

Waite on the Ripper was a phenomenal start to The Celestial Wars series. The premise is refreshing, and the storyline is incredibly gripping, intense, suspenseful, and wholly satisfying. The world-building is excellent with all the essential ingredients to make a captivating storyline, murder investigation, supernatural elements and strong characters; immediately, I was drawn in. Despite the length, John Campbell has done an unbelievable job with character development. The MC, and the supporting characters, were well-rounded, capable, each contributing a unique skill and diversity to the plot. I can't wait for the rest of the series!

This was my first time listening to Dan Johnson; I thought he did a stellar job portraying the characters and bringing Campbell's words to life. His voice was particularly well suited for Harmon; I could thoroughly picture him in my head. Overall, this was a very entertaining listen, one I highly recommend.
