About this listen

Pen

I’ve seen firsthand the monsters that men turn into when they’re hit with the virus. I’ve been at their bedside in the ER when the Task Force comes and hauls them away. I’ve heard the stories of women getting kidnapped right off the street, never to be seen again. What I’m unprepared for is the day my best friend Mal goes missing, only to turn up upstate in a mansion, claiming one of the Awakened beasts is her “mate”.

When I find her, I’m equally unprepared for the broken and brooding alpha male she warns me away from. The one so deranged that the pack’s “enforcer” has to regularly drag him home, wrapped up in chains so he doesn’t kill someone. He’s clearly insane, but there’s a fire in his eyes that calls to me, a deep and primal power that tugs at my soul.

There’s just one other problem. His only memory is of beautiful blue eyes. Blue eyes he can’t stop thinking about. Blue eyes that aren’t my own - even as our connection grows. I shouldn’t let him touch me, but I can’t stop.

My presence drives him to the very edges of his frayed sanity, and I’m terrified to find out what happens when his restraint finally snaps.

Wake Up, Alpha is the second book in the Alpha Compound series, by Anna Fury. This dystopian MF omegaverse romance features a firecracker heroine and destroyed alpha finding their own HEA.

Great performance and plot

I started with this second book and really enjoyed it. I’m anticipating the rest will be as entertaining and engaging as Wake Up Alpha.

Another great addition!

My heart is so full of happiness for Samson and Pen! I loved how this story picks right up following the events from book one in a smooth transition between characters. The chemistry between Pen and Samson is so sweet yet primal and I loved watching him re-discover himself and begin to heal from his brokenness. Pen's lively, outgoing, and confident nature are a compliment to Samson's quieter, more reserved self and the little surprises about Samson's past were unexpectedly perfect. I love how much the characters in this series, including the secondary ones, feel so much like family and I'm so curious to know more about the alpha's abilities and history, as well as what a certain researcher is up to. The narration was on point and the narrators did a fabulous job, even bringing in hints of accents when needed. I'm hooked on this series and can't wait to see what's next!

Exciting unique omegaverse experience!

Wake Up, Alpha is book 2 in the Alpha Compound Series, but I started with this book and it can be read as a stand-alone. That being said, I am eager to read more in the series. This is the story of Pen, who is an ER nurse, and Samson, who is an “awakened” after having been exposed to the virus. Pen soon learns that they have not been told the truth - or at least not the whole truth - about the virus or the men who have it. When she goes in search of her friend and is faced with a compound full of Alphas who are completely reasonable everything changes. She is a fiercely determined woman experiencing a powerfully raw attraction to an Alpha male who is somewhat aloof. Samson is still evolving and the whole group of them is learning about the changes they are experiencing. It’s a VERY interesting and unique take on the concept of the omegaverse and I really enjoyed it. There is a lot of story and plenty of steam to keep me engaged. I need to know what happens as the alphas come to understand their place in the world and the rest of the world learns they are not the monsters they have been led to believe. I’m looking forward to the rest of the series!

Samantha Brentmoor is a favorite narrator, so I knew it would be good. Her own personality really fit well with Pen’s and brought it to life in a way another performer might not have. Patrick Zeller is another voice I am motivated to follow. He has the perfect range to bring us a complicated Alpha experiencing a wide range of emotions.

Oh Samson!

This one gave beauty and the beast but make it dystopian, with lots of slick and knots 😌
We first met Penelope in book 1, when she’s introduced as Mal’s best friend and an ER Nurse. She in understandably concerned for her friend and decides to track her down and make sure she is alive and ok.

That leads her to the alpha compound..the place where omega sex dreams come true apparently lol. Samson is our super hot and tortured alpha hero. Ever since his awakening, he seemed to be the only alpha still experiencing the symptoms which all other alphas only experience in the beginning of their transition; and they can’t seem to figure out why. Enter Penelope.

They have an instant connection, but their circumstances prevent them from acting on this undeniable chemistry and unexplainable feelings. They find themselves fighting a battle to protect not only their pack, but their fate as well.

The found family is one of the highlights of this series for me. The possessive alphas and strong and fearless omegas are the icing on the cake. Did I mention the steam is top tier!

I highly recommend reading along with the audio! The narrators are excellent and it just makes the overall reading experience so much more enjoyable! I can’t wait to catch up on the rest of Anna’s work because I am definitely a fan!!

More passion, danger and intrigue

I liked book 2 even more than book 1. Book 1 was all about world building and introductions to the pack and the first Alpha Omega pairing and revelations about the true nature of these alphas but now Anna Fury is back to dive into the romance of Samson the Seer and Pen ( Mal’s bestie) . Samson seemed so feared and misunderstood in Book 1 and I’m glad he got to tell his story. Patrick Zeller brought tears to my eyes several times. Samantha Brentmoor is a delightful Pen, compassionate, snarky and has s@x on the brain , exactly what Samson needs and together they deliver so much passion and reveal so many secrets. Can’t wait for books 3!

A Dystopian Shifter Romance

Wake Up, Alpha by Anna Fury is a dystopian omegaverse romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Patrick Zeller and Samantha Brentmoor. This is the second book in the Alpha Compound series.

This is the second book of Anna's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I enjoyed the relationship between Samson and Pen. I liked that we got both of their points of views throughout the book.

I can't wait for the next book in the series Wide Awake to be released on audio so I can get Carmen, Connor, and Brady.

Patrick and Samantha did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you like dystopian romances, omegaverse romances, or romantic suspense.

Amazing!

Omg this series just keeps getting better and better. We are back in the world of the Alphas, and Samson is one of the biggest and baddest of them. He still struggles with the Wilding phase, which causes him to blackout and go to the city in search of “blue eyes”. Pen is Mal’s best friend, and when she notices that Mal is gone, she uses her phone to find her GPS location – which takes her straight to the Alpha compound. She and Samson instantly connect, and neither understands why they are drawn to each other. Samson is scared to claim her since he still doesn’t know who the blue-eyed female, he has been searching for is, but the more he is around Pen, he starts regaining pieces of his memories that he’s lost. And Pen… well she is his Omega female.

Pen goes to meet with her criminal father to see if he can give them any information, and we learn that there are other alpha groups in the city and that there is a pack hierarchy. Samson is considered the seer but doesn’t know what that means. And of course, there are still the enforcers out there that are trying to take them down.

Loved this book a million times, and I can't wait to see what happens next.

I received an audio version of this book, and the narrators were ON POINT. I loved hearing the story, and boy, was it sexy too!

I received an ALC for my honest review!

Great Series

I really love this book! The story line is great! One down side for book 1 & 2 is the male voices. They have a great deep voice but they are both older gentleman. It looses the character a bit. Other than that it was wonderful, on to book 3!
