Publisher's summary

Stuart Fuhlendorf was a Wall Street whiz kid, taking three companies public on the Nasdaq by his early forties. On paper, he was worth millions. Then, his world fell apart and was transformed in a way that he could have never imagined.

In Wall Street to the Well, Stu Fuhlendorf tells the captivating story of his journey from success and riches to losing everything. Then, when he assumed his life was over, an unexpected phone call gave him new hope and new life.

It’s a true story about self-sufficiency, wealth, excess, a Securities and Exchange Commission lawsuit, possible jail time, financial failure, alcoholism, faith, and finally dependency on God.

A relevant story for anyone who struggles with pride, success, and failure. Wall Street executives aren’t all wolves. Some discover that God’s version of success is much different...and much more satisfying.

A terrific story about a wild transformation that leaves you feeling humbled, inspired and encouraged.

This is a fantastic book for fans of autobiographies, as well as fans of adventure, drama and life transformation. It's a true story of someone who has lived what I think would make an incredibly engaging movie, as it takes you on a journey full of suspense, surprises, and life lessons too valuable to miss.

I recommend starting with the Intro, or with Chapter 1, as the Forward, Preface and Acknowledgements are so much more meaningful AFTER you've read (or listened to) the entire book. Go back and check those parts out once you have some context.

The author/narrator is a rare breed who has an amazing ability to tell a story in which he does nothing to make himself look good, to justify his human selfishness or downplay his pride. He tells it like it is, and his raw truthfulness enables you to see proof of the life transformation he speaks of.

One couldn't be so blatant about their unflattering/ugly behaviors and attitudes if they were still the same person they were at the time they had them. The way he owns his mistakes now is what enabled me to keep reading/listening without hating him too much (though there were moments where I audibly acknowledged my frustration with some of his choices).

In the end, the story actually led me, unexpectedly, to a lot of self reflection. I went from judging him for who he was to admiring who he had become, and looking for patterns in my own life where I could see true change -- or more importantly -- where I still need to experience change through obedience and surrender, like the author describes.

This is a lot more than a story. I encourage you to read/listen to it and see what it becomes for you.

What an amazing read

I read the book amongst some of the most challenging times of my life and my personal facing of business and financial ruin. Once I started listening to this book I could not stop, I drove around in my car for 4 hours just so I could keep listening all the while, relating to much of the story through my tears as I process the story and my own life. So many times we have a small faith as a child then when life gets hard instead of realizing that in this life we will face struggles we throw the Lord away and begin to serve ourselves, after all would God ever allow something bad to happen? For some of us we stay there for years, for some of us by the Grace of God we are given a chance to return to the Lord and trust no matter how painful the process is. Even if your business journey does not include Wall Street and millions of millions of dollars, it likely does include pride. Pride is the number one thing that destroys so many of us. It is the story of Stuarts pride, how he fell to it then over came it that most of us will relate to. Stuart bravely shares his story and some of what many of us would consider our deepest and darkest secrets, yet through this all he always pointed back to the Lord. I am thankful for this book and think that it offers so much to so many people including but certainly not limited to the atheist, the traumatized Christian child now grown, the business executive, the loved one who is seeing their family member struggle and the person who likes to read testimonials and how God reaches people. Thank you Stuart for being vulnerable and sharing your story.

Such a wonderful book. My highlight is the process of sanctification and how faithful God is. Jesus be glorified
