About this listen

Jackson Young brings the woman he wants to marry home to Kentucky to meet his parents, but Helen doesn’t act like the same woman away from Boston. He’s stunned by her selfish, snobbish attitude and shrewish behavior.

As he reacquaints with people he hasn’t seen in five years, he notices Wylene Ward and remembers the time he rescued her from a group of bullies when they were in school. She’s turned into an attractive, caring woman who bakes the best walnut cake in the world. Suddenly, Jackson finds himself courting one woman, but thinking about another. How can he remedy the situation and find his place as a new lawyer? Will it be in Boston as he’d originally thought, or in Green Knoll, Kentucky, the place that still feels like home?

This was a good one.

I really enjoyed the storyline. The lesson that the author brought out when choosing a spouse is very important and more people should heed it. This is a book about faith, family and the treating others with kindness. God takes care of those who takes care of others.

The narrator did a really good job and bringing the story to life.

I received a free copy of this audiobook from the author but I am voluntarily leaving this review. I recommend this book.

Cake it is!

What a perfect story to listen to on a dreary day. The narrator was good. They always say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach and Wylene's walnut cake certainly does the trick. Jackson has come home during the holidays to introduce his love interest, but sees a different side to her. He is certain it would never work out. One day he runs into Wylene who he hasn't seen in years and remembers when he helped her out when they were younger. Wylene has always held a special place in her heart for Jackson. Could this Christmas bring her a special gift.
I was given a copy of the book by the author for an honest review.

So Sweet

Ms. Hopkins has written another really sweet romance. There is an inspirational lesson in knowing what to look for in a spouse, wife or husband. Even the villains have qualities that show a soft heart deep down. All of the characters are interesting and easy to like. This author is relatively new to me and I am thoroughly enjoying her books. Looking forward to more!

The narrator does a wonderful job which makes the listening pleasant and brings the story to life.

Walnut cake! Yum!

Sometimes you need to go home to remember what life is all about. Jackson is getting ready to start his law career and propose to his new boss's daughter. She is a handful, loves material things, and is beautiful. But is that enough for Jackson? He decides to take her home to meet his family over Thanksgiving and Christmas, and this is where he sees her true colors. Wylene is several years younger than Jackson, but she holds a place in her heart for his protection from a school bully years before. When the two meet up again, Jackson is shocked by her beauty and enjoys her company. Has he made a mistake? Is this the woman he should be with? Janice Cole Hopkins takes us through a decision that isn't easy. Finding your heart, not only for love, but for faith and life is Jackson's journey. It's a wonderful listen and with all the amazing baked goods, shows the way to a man's heart is through his stomach! :)

James R Cheatham is the perfect narrator for this story. He has a way of bringing his character to life and in this one he shines. He goes from the haughty girlfriend to the modest Wylene with ease giving them each voices matching their personas. And as Jackson, he lets us feel his frustration and love. It is the ideal listen for a rainy Sunday and was a pure joy to hear.

Great book

I listened to this one on audio. James R Cheatham did a good job of narration. I loved this book. The story was great and felt very realistic. The characters are well written and their interactions with each other seemed very plausible. Great book with even a recipe at the end. I will need to convert it to high altitude, but I am excited to make it.
